Lafayette Animal Hospital was recommended to us by the breeder we bought our new great dane puppy. We brought our puppy to hospital next day after taking him home. The vet was very nice. He told us to bring back our dog for further vaccinations within 4 weeks. When I called to schedule the second appointment, I asked the office what type of vaccinations they were planning to follow thru. They said all of them. I am terribly disappointed in this establishment. My 91 year old neighbor has been bringing her 14 year old lab to LAH for a while. Her dog is in the process of dying and at the last visit, Dr. Drozdz told my neighbor that someone could come to her house to euthanize her dog when the time came. She said to try to plan it a couple of days in advance to allow for scheduling. The vets here are good and I always feel comfortable that my dog is getting appropriate care. The staff at the front desk is another matter, however. They're difficult to deal with, often flustered or irritable. On more than one occasion they've made mistakes or given me incorrect information, such that I've had to make multiple trips to pickup medication or to pickup my dog. It's typical to be kept waiting up to half an hour just to pay my bill. They're convenient to where I live, however, so at least for now I'll continue ... read more

!! WARNING IF YOU HAVE YOUR PETS TEETH CLEANED !! On a recent check-up of our 25 lb dog, Doc recommended a teeth cleaning due to tartar etc. We had previously taken our dog to anesthesia-free teeth cleaning services. Because our dog wiggles and difficult to control, it was tough get a proper cleanings completed. It made sense to have teeth cleaning for our dog as the Doc suggested. This is the WORST animal hospital ever. I've Been taking my pets here for 13+years and I had one incident of not paying a$175 bill and their new blue haired office manager acted like a loan shark. She was mean and demeaning and yelled at me in front of clients at the reception desk. She seemed perfectly fine with discussing bill paying tactics. No problem. No class!!!!!! My cat is 14 years old and has had rabies shots every year. We just moved to Lafayette, so I thought I'd try Lafayette Animal Hospital to get her vaccination. The vet stuck her THREE TIMES with the needle for one rabies vaccination! He claimed that was completely normal, and that the skin he pinched was too thin, so the needle was going through the skin so he had to keep trying. This had never happened before, so I can't see how it's "normal". Never taking her back there. They also board the dogs and cats together... ... read more

I hate to leave 1 star for a place that I have been going to for over 15 yrs...but enough is enough. The staff is amazing ill give you that, doctors are good. BUT the waiting, scheduling, timing, is horrible. Just absolutely the worst appointment keeping possible. I thought I was at kaiser the last visit and I walked out after waiting 20 minutes past my appointment. It's rude and the communication is beyond bad. I've felt that the routine care here has been average. Recently, one of our cats has developed symptoms that we felt haven't been thoroughly addressed. However, the last straw for this practice occurred when our dog was in for teeth cleaning. Without our prior knowledge or consent, multiple teeth were extracted. Certainly, it might have been the right thing to do and saved another anesthetic, but a prior discussion needed to occur. I have been going to LAH for 8 years with my dog. I have found the vets to be very nice. However, I have found that they have give mediocre care, which is fine since my dog is relatively healthy. At one point, they missed a diagnosis, which created an emergency situation for him when I was out of town with him the following day. I had to take him to a different vet who ran a simple test, which they said was indicated given his symptoms (and could have been run the prior day) and gave him proper treatment.
