I recently stopped taking my dog to this Vet after 12 years and it is very sad The quality of service has diminished tremendously and the care and concern of my dog was also missing too ! One major reason is that this guy Norton and I won't call him a vet because he does not deserve to be called one is very unprofessional rude , does not listen but only to what he has to say. I have never met anyone as rude as he is ! I have now found a better animal hospital in Walnut Creek , Muller which I would recommend to anyone !

I miss Dr. Radcliffe! I have been going here for 18 years but today was the last time. My dog was in pain when eating so I went in at 8 am. He had a severe reaction to biting on a treat and so I assume he has something wrong in his mouth. They said they could not see him until 11:30. While sad, it makes sense as it's a business. Then she tells me they can see him at 10 for an extra $110. That didn't sit well with me but it's their policy. Then she says my dog is under another person's account. I explain for at least ... read more

Just terrible. I brought my dog in twice in a month because he wasn't eating and his mouth seemed to hurt. They found nothing, recommended painkillers, chastised me for feeding him people food (only food he would eat). Last night, I took him to Encina Animal Hospital and they looked in his mouth and promptly performed a biopsy of a lump they found under his tongue. The results came back as squamous cell carcinoma. Our oncologist later told us that the tumor, although large, was not easy to find because of where it was locate... read more

Two years later I'm amazed this hospital has stayed in business. I took my dog there for 14 years, then he passed, now recently I took another dog back, nothings has changed, not friendly people behind the counter, absolutely no warm and fuzzies about anything. Also was very disappointed from start to finish!!!! When a dog is taken to a hospital where he has been treated before, and was bitten and attacked during a dog fight, we are there for help, not to come back 3 hours later and hope to get an appointment. Won't be ba... read more

I don't post often but I felt THIS needs to be shared. We changed our vet couple years ago to Lafayette Animal Hospital. Our dog was getting older and we wanted to be closer to our vet in case of an emergency. That emergency happen this weekend! We were up in Tahoe and we got the news our 18 year old dog wasn't doing well, so I called our vet Lafayette Animal Hospital and beg them to take our dog in when our friend brings him in and just keep in comfortable until we can get home, were told "NO", we were told we didn't hav... read more

For 17 years, I took my very healthy healthy year old toy poodle to Dr. Ratcliffe for check-ups, shots, etc. He suddenly retired just when my 18.5 year old beloved dog needed him the most. After my dog had the first of three prolonged gran mal seizures, it took a week to get a call back. I called everyday and finally said, "Does my dog have to die to get any attention?" Little did I know how prophetic my words would be. Finally, Dr.Drocz called me back. I was given an appointment. The doctor significantly increased her... read more

My dog Truman has been a patient of Lafayette Animal Hospital for many years and I have been generally satisfied. That changed today. Truman was in intense pain an crying. I called to be seen and was told they were too busy to see him and that I should take him to the emergency vet. Talk about being there for the patient in an emergency. It was clear the message was we're busy, your dogs suffering and it's not our problem. I found a vet who had never seen Truman and squeezed him in her busy schedule to take a look at him. Sh... read more

I have been a client w/Lafayette Animal Hospital for close to 30yrs. My parents went there. Dr Pearson was the absolute BEST. He retired 4yrs or so. Dr Radcliffe has retired also. I have spent $25,000 one year & $15,000 another. I never complained about the money I knew with Dr Pearson I was in good hands. For the past 4yrs or more the front OFFICE is a complete DISASTER. They don't Care. They are extremely rude & obnoxious. I had an appointment called the day before to male sure of the time. The next day I walked into a FUL... read more

My dog became sick. I called and couldn't get a same day appointment but was told to call at 0800am the next day when same day appointments would be available. I called at 0800, the "brief hold" turned into 10 minutes and a disconnect. I went in and was told they were overbooked and understaffed, so true! Doesn't matter how good the vets are if they are not available. We've been coming here for years, it has gone so downhill.
