My dog Truman has been a patient of Lafayette Animal Hospital for many years and I have been generally satisfied. That changed today. Truman was in intense pain an crying. I called to be seen and was told they were too busy to see him and that I should take him to the emergency vet. Talk about being there for the patient in an emergency. It was clear the message was we're busy, your dogs suffering and it's not our problem. I found a vet who had never seen Truman and squeezed him in her busy schedule to take a look at him. I have been a client w/Lafayette Animal Hospital for close to 30yrs. My parents went there. Dr Pearson was the absolute BEST. He retired 4yrs or so. Dr Radcliffe has retired also. I have spent $25,000 one year & $15,000 another. I never complained about the money I knew with Dr Pearson I was in good hands. For the past 4yrs or more the front OFFICE is a complete DISASTER. My dog became sick. I called and couldn't get a same day appointment but was told to call at 0800am the next day when same day appointments would be available. I called at 0800, the "brief hold" turned into 10 minutes and a disconnect. I went in and was told they were overbooked and understaffed, so true! Doesn't matter how good the vets are if they are not available. We've been coming here for years, it has gone so downhill.

Quite literally the worst experience ever. Otter's appointment was at 2:30. I waited in line to check in for 10 minutes and was 5 minutes early to the appointment. Get checked in and assume I'll wait maybe 10 minutes. 30 minutes later I was told they were running behind. 10 minutes after that they finally put me and Otter in a room. 57 minutes after the appointment was scheduled, I started to walk out. Lafayette Animal Hospital was recommended to us by the breeder we bought our new great dane puppy. We brought our puppy to hospital next day after taking him home. The vet was very nice. He told us to bring back our dog for further vaccinations within 4 weeks. When I called to schedule the second appointment, I asked the office what type of vaccinations they were planning to follow thru. They said all of them. I am terribly disappointed in this establishment. My 91 year old neighbor has been bringing her 14 year old lab to LAH for a while. Her dog is in the process of dying and at the last visit, Dr. Drozdz told my neighbor that someone could come to her house to euthanize her dog when the time came. She said to try to plan it a couple of days in advance to allow for scheduling. The vets here are good and I always feel comfortable that my dog is getting appropriate care. The staff at the front desk is another matter, however. They're difficult to deal with, often flustered or irritable. On more than one occasion they've made mistakes or given me incorrect information, such that I've had to make multiple trips to pickup medication or to pickup my dog. It's typical to be kept waiting up to half an hour just to pay my bill. They're convenient to where I live, however, so at least for now I'll continue ... read more

!! WARNING IF YOU HAVE YOUR PETS TEETH CLEANED !! On a recent check-up of our 25 lb dog, Doc recommended a teeth cleaning due to tartar etc. We had previously taken our dog to anesthesia-free teeth cleaning services. Because our dog wiggles and difficult to control, it was tough get a proper cleanings completed. It made sense to have teeth cleaning for our dog as the Doc suggested. This is the WORST animal hospital ever. I've Been taking my pets here for 13+years and I had one incident of not paying a$175 bill and their new blue haired office manager acted like a loan shark. She was mean and demeaning and yelled at me in front of clients at the reception desk. She seemed perfectly fine with discussing bill paying tactics. No problem. No class!!!!!!
