This is a first class operation. I moved to the Phoenix area almost two years ago & had to leave my hairdresser of 20+ years behind. Decided to give Madison-Reed a try. Had no idea how this would work out. My natural hair color is almost black (now mostly grey), but I color it golden blonde. It's a difficult color to attain when your hair is naturally black with a lot of red pigment. I have been going to Madison-Reed in Scottsdale since I moved here. Since my usual hairdresser was unavailable, I figured I would try them out. After all, they are experts in color, right? I walked in with washed out blonde hair, and after discussion with the colorist to add a few low lights, I walked out with brown hair and veryl few streaks. I was not happy. THIS IS NOT A HAIR SALON!! Dont be fooled by the options online to book highlights or a balayage because when you show up they will tell you (or not tell you) that they don't do those hair syles. I've been to a few different hair salons in my life but this is a disgrace of a hair salon. They do not want to talk, socialize, or personalize your experience. They just want to get you in and out. Its a bonus when they see your hair turned out awful and they gave you "skunk roots" to still be charged $100... NEVER AGAIN

I'm used to coloring my own roots but there's always imperfections when coloring ones own hair. As a treat, I decided to give this salon a shot since I received a 25% off coupon my first service. My appointment was for an all over hair color. Honestly, my box color from the store works better than theirs. It's definitely not dark brown. The hair colorist said my hair needs 45 mins for color to set so I set my timer. When timer was up, I told him it's time to rinse and he said I have 3 more mins. I went today, it was my 1st time, figured I would take advantage of the 20% 1st service. While I was happy with the color & service, I'm very unhappy with the up charges. I scheduled a root only service ($70 on website, I chose to blow dry myself). The charge was $82 (charge said roots + consult) then the stylist mentioned a complimentary conditioner. This was actually a buy one get one which I was charged for but it was not clear there was an additional charge, I would have declined this. She said something about a promo...... read more

I got my color on a Thursday, went home an noticed I had gray hair around my face, but the majority of gray got colored. I went back two days later for a correction and the girls said I had to go darker to cover the gray. I did not want to go darker and they said we can't help you than. I SHOULD HAVE LEFT AT THAT POINT! I was not happy and told them so we discussed a color, which they put on me. I than got called to the wash bowl. I will never go back! I was supposed to get chunkier highlights and it doesn't look like I got highlights at all! I was going for more gold in my highlights and now it looks like I went platinum blonde. But the real clincher is when I combed out my hair white hairs clogged the comb!!! White!! No blonde in it at all....then I was told that my $150 hair color was "complimentary".....: no charge at all, confession that someone messed up big time!!!

Booked an appointment a week in advance. I showed up 30 minutes early to my appointment and they say you cant get service until youre 18. Maybe they should have mentioned that before i took my time to come here? Do not go here if you are under 18.
