I've been to Mangiamo's about 3-4 X in the last few years. Not sure what is going on in the kitchen over there, but they can't seem to get it together. The entrees are never hot. Fish always has to be sent back as it is not cooked thoroughly. Sauces are sparse and therefore the food is dry. Caesar Salads are good, as most salads are here. Decent wine list. The entire place needs updating. Looks very old and tired. Wanted to love it, but it was just so-so.
Menu was full of fall items and it is spring. Needs an update! Luckily, special was spring risotto. Bread fabulous. Drinks good.
We loved the ambience in this restaurant. Would love to know even more history of the house. Good food and service too. There was a large group next to us and they made it hard to hear. But overall, very nice. The flourless Chocolate torte was amazing!
This was the perfect spot for our nite out with friends. We started with drinks and appetizers in the bar, then moved to the dining room for dinner. Can't wait to go again in the summer to dine outside.
Glad this restaurant was on Open Table! We were in Grand Rapids for a concert on a Sunday night with not many restaurants open within walking distance of venue, so after looking at this restaurant, I booked it. Wonderful ambiance in a old restored home. To walk in and smell the aromas, the white & red tablecloths and sounds of Mike, the accordian player, we knew we were going to enjoy our evening. Good wine list, extensive menu, will visit again.
We really enjoyed the food and had a great waiter who made it fun for the kids. I wouldn't call it a "kids" kind of restaurant but they take care of families and let the kids color on the table paper--plus our waiter made them comfortable and goofed around with our youngest, etc. It was a little expensive but not horrible. We had appetizer, glass of wine apiece, meals for us and two kids for around $100. I recommend for anyone who wants a better option than the normal chains.
Beautiful place, good food, nice staff. Really enjoy all of the different rooms, and quiet little corners. Lots of blackboards for the kids to color with chalk.
The service was sluggish as our server was to busy to provide individual attention to any guests. The table we were seated at was in the middle of the doorway to the north dining room and too close to the service station
Incredible setting within an historic Italianate mansion built by lumberman Augustus Paddock approximately 1894. Readily accessible with generous onsite parking. We. a party of four, dined on what must have been an exceptionally busy weeknight. Both bar and food service were slow, though our waiter was attentive and thoughtful. Calamari and Bruchetta for starters. The first exceptionally good crisply fried with banana peppers, green olives and veggie chips, and served with a tangy sauce. The Bruchetta, disappointedly, was on... read more
