Very pleased with the food, service, and atmosphere. Our first time there-won't be the last.
I flew in from San Francisco that morning to take my 17 year-old daughter to Saturday evening dinner and the theater. When we drove up to the restaurant, she said, "WOW!" Thank you for helping to make the evening memorable.
Great place to dine before downtown events. Surprised my daughter before the GRBC Sleeping Beauty with an enjoyable dinner. She had never been to Mangiamo's, and since she is interested in interior design/architecture I thought she'd like the 19th century design. She did and we had a great time. Will definitely return.
I have visited Mangiamo around a half dozen times and every time I hope the food will get better. The wine list and 1/2 off Wednesday is an awesome deal along with a spectactual ambience. However, the food is just plain boring. This past time, I had the cavatappi alfredo. The alfredo sauce had absolutely no flavor. I had to bombard it with salt and pepper. Where is the garlic? Where is the flavor? I will not be back until the food taste improves. Disappointed yet again.
My sea bass with black truffle risotto was a delicious adventure for me. The wood roasted salmon that my husband enjoyed was too heavy (smoky) for my palette but he loved it. This was our first visit to your restaurant and we were very happy to learn that the food is great. We are food snobs. We will return.
We went for my birthday...they have a great birthday deal right now (buy one-get one). I got the risotta and sirlion with roasted garlic and tomato (their special). The overall flavor of the dish was exceptional, but the steak was a major disappointment...no flavor and super tough cut of meat. I left most of it on the plate. Have always enjoyed eating at Mangiamos but was quit disappointed with food and sevice. Our the pork was over cooked and quite dry. Our waitress seemed to disappear for a prolong stretch. Expect much more from a Gilmore restaurant.
Fantastic service, wonderful food, all accommodations addressed. We'll be back.
We've been there before a number of times. I do miss the variety of potato selections though. And the fireplaces lit on a chilly day/evening is much more appealing and sets a nice mood. We also had a Christmas party there last year and was disappointed at the lack of Christmas decorations - a very tree in each room and the mantles decorated more would have been beautiful and made it much more festive.
