Absolutely awful bunch of scammers who take advantage of college students. Would advise every JMU parent to Steer clear of them.

 Matchbox Realty & Management Services Worse property management in Harrisonburg. No way to pay your rent without a convenience fee except by sending a check to Chantilly. Also terrible record on maintenance, I was left without a shower for over a week once, until I fixed it myself. Was a tenant for over 6 years with nothing but problems. Hello William, Per your lease agreement, maintaining a clean air filter and replacing the batteries in your smoke alarm is your responsibility. When we notified you in advance about our scheduled inspection in December, the air filter in your unit was still found to be dirty upon arrival. Again, this is a tenant responsibility, and a one-time charge was applied accordingly. Terrible company. Stay away at all costs. They dont respond, lie to your face when you do manage to get them, and they take advantage of young college tenants. Ill be filing a lawsuit shortly for the outrageous charges they had at the end of the lease. Please contact me directly if you had a similar experience and we may make it a class action lawsuit.

These people do not care about their tenants. Mold in the air ducts, exposed lead paint, 7 am remodels, tricking you into signing leases where you'll be living in a live construction area. Not willing to test for mold after they've offered to move you to a new unit. They'll threaten to evict you if you leave a bad review. The absolute only reason they stay in business is because it's a college town so there's supply and demand.
I have lived in Matchbox owned properties for 3 years. I chose Ice House South after finishing college because of its proximity to downtown, my work, and its large windows. I did NOT choose it for the lack of prioritization of security! Our key fob access has been broken since July 7 with no attempt to find a lasting solution. It is a security measure written in our lease and without it, our leases are being breached and safety ignored.
