Network Users Beware!!! After I contacted the "well below average" tech support at Brother, they tell me there's no way to bypass the username and password requirement when scanning to a network folder. This is a major annoyance of this printer. In a small office when you have a customer and you are trying to hurry and service the customer, the printer will stop you and require you to put a username and password before you could scan to a network folder. Then I say, "fine, I'll input the info in the printers management panel... read more
HORRIBLE Printer has never printed clearly but it was acceptable enough to get by. Need to replace an ink cartridge recently and order the BROTHER replacement cartridges. Received and replaced the one empty. Printing is completely illegible. Ran all of the tests and cleaning functions. Still impossible to read anything. Tried all the new cartridges. Still unable to read print. WORTHLESS piece of junk. Do not buy it.
This printer is a piece of crap! I have had to re-install this printer over and over again to get it to work. Now it says it is out of paper even though both the printer tray and the feeder tray have paper in them. I'm giving up & getting a printer.
Occasionally goes offline which is very frustrating The printer goes offline all the time. I tried all settings but nothing helps. It will not be online unless you approach and restart it.
Printer Easily Jammed. No duplex from ADF. Printer jammed on first use of attempt to make a manual duplex copy. I had only used the printer once or twice. I’m not sure of the print quality as I’m sending it back because duplex scanning and faxing from the ADF is not a feature of this printer. You have to dig deep to find the tidbit of information.
More Jams than Beyoncé Terrible product... paper jam after paper jam. Print a few color documents and you will forever have “low ink”....
2 ink cartridges almost empty on delivery I like this printer. But it took about 10 runs of the jet cleaning cycle to get the cyan to print clearly and when I finally went to print something it turned out that the cyan and the yellow were both just about empty. And that's on the first day out of the box. We'll see if it gets better or worse after a few weeks of use. I almost sent it back based just on the small lack of ink.
Part Time Printer I've used this printer with my Macbook Pro for 2 years now and it's always been a headache. If you're an IT pro, you might be able to get it to work 1/2 the time. If you're anything like me, you're only going to be able to get it to work 1/4 of the time, assuming you're willing to put in a few hours of troubleshooting.

Magenta ink printing failed after less than 1 year. Bulky, and without two-sided scanning, this printer is clunky, but the better use of ink was appealing. Unfortunately one of the colors stopped working after less than 1 year. Now I have a large $200 paperweight, that doesn't work as advertised. Does anyone make a decent inkjet printer anymore?
