Good Value I like this printer well enough. It definitely prints quickly with black only ink. I am happy with the print quality. Although, I am a little nervous about the paper support. It seems flimsy, however, I have no problems with it to date. I have been using the printer for over a month. It is used for a small home business. This is a great printer I print around 40 pages a day. The duplex printing is wonderful. It is very efficient with ink consumption. I love the printer.
Easy to set up for printing The fax function which many people no longer use was a little more complicated to set up. But slowly reading the manual provided success. This printer is great and handles heavier paper well (#110 paper).
Great Printer I hate buying printers because they rarely seem to work as advertised. I bought only HP for many years and about 10 years ago, gave up on them. Took 8 Print Nozzle Cleanings When I first set this up and ran the test print, the magenta was not printing at all. Through four subsequent cleanings the magenta "dots" printed on the test, however some dots looked cyan. I did my own test print with a photo and several one-inch sections printed with a gradation from magenta to cyan overlying the photo. Another GREAT product at a GREAT price - Always thrilled with a good "inkVestment" Love my new Brother Business Smart Plus Series color printer, fax, copier! So many great features, and so far the ink is holding true to the advertising for an "inkVestment"! I haven't seen a decent Inkjet printer since the early 90s but... I can't believe I'm typing this. The Brother MFC-J5830 is an honest-to-god all around good business inkjet. The ink tanks hold up. It prints (borderless!) photos well and handles envelopes with ease. It duplex prints, has a scanning autofeeder and is in no way a hassle to configure or manage. I have a love hate relationship with this thing. **UPDATE** CHANGED FROM 3 STARS TO 5 STARS UPDATE! - I GOT IT FIXED! While I had already checked all the settings every which way, I eventually found I had more options available after I changed the default driver from "Brother Generic Jpeg Type1 Class Driver" to "Brother MFC-5830DW Printer" and hit apply.
