Not what I was hoping for. I spent a lot of money on this printer and I am so disappointed. I get lines down the middle all the time. I have cleaned it and cleaned it to no avail. It will be clear for about 3 or 4 printings and then it starts up again. I would have sent it back but my daughter threw the box out.
I cannot recommend this enough I having been buying printers for years. Went from HP to Brother because HP seemed to go downhill. This is my third Brother printer and I have to say it is a higher grade than all the others yet the price was cheaper. I cannot recommend this enough. Fast printing with very flat high quality printed pages. I work in the legal field and need high quality looking documents. This printer gives me that.
Poorly designed In copy mode, a surface mount electronic keypad becomes active between the LCD and on-off switch adjacent to the scanner glass. It is EXTREMELY sensitive. The slightest vibration will cause it to change the copy count from 1 to dozens. If you attempt to copy a book or magazine which overhangs the keypad, it will change the copy count and the only way to stop it is to turn off the machine and clear the paper jams. I called customer service. They said they can't fix it and said my best option was to write a bad... read more
A good, bad and even ugly printer from Brother. But reasonably good. Scanner not reliable with Acrobat. Update: I'm downgrading this to one star because after upgrading to the latest driver (hoping it would fix some of the many issues with this printer) the Scanner crashes every single time with Adobe Acrobat and most of the time with the built in software. If you need the scanner, don't buy this printer. I always buy these Brother printers because they always do what I need them to do, and they do it at a reasonable price. ... read more
One Star Used it for 2 months then a little piece came off and it no longer worked
ok... Got this as a replacement for an 8910 that failed just after a year (constant jamming). Brother tech support working off a script was zero help. Working on a credit card warranty refund but who knows. I have a second 8910 that is also failing (top adf feeder cover keeps popping up)... Had this unit for about a week. Some points to note, the touch interface - particularly the number pad - can be troublesome for women in the office with long fingernails.
A Rose by Any Other Name . . . Perhaps I should have realized that a "paper tray adjustable for letter or legal" is different than "a 50-sheet capacity Multi-purpose tray." The latter, however, is not a "tray" as I would have thought: it can not be loaded with more than one envelope at a time. So much for printing a letter and envelope wirelessly from wherever I am in the house with the laptop. Other than this, the machine is very good. It seems quite durable.
Glare on color LCD screen and unplugging machine after each install may be a deal breaker I bought this printer as a replacement for the Brother MFC8910DW which was very good when it worked, but was prone to errors including broken drums and drum error message. I got the MFCL5900DW printer to give Brother another shot. Speed: Initial start up time to first printed state feels like about 2 seconds slower on the MFCL5900DW compared to the older MFC8910DW. Once it starts printing, the speed on the MFCL5900DW is very fast. Insta... read more
