The food was very good. Hot, fresh, and well prepared. Everything came out timely as they tend to at a tapas style restaurant. Our service, however, left a lot to be desired. We sat at our table far divided from the rest of the outdoor diners, it took 10 minutes to get a menu and water after being seated despite being one of 4 occupied tables. I'm not one for rushing my dinner, but seeing other tables attended to while not receiving service was a bit unnerving. I would go back to give it another shot, the food made it worthw... read more
I'm unsure how Nia has been able to compete with all of the other world-class restaurants on Randolph Street, both from a food quality and service perspective. I went to Nia 4 years ago and chose to not go back until last week for Restaurant Week 2023 due to the food quality being poor - and I had an even worse experience this past time! My husband and I paid over $250 total for the $59 per person Restaurant Week menu and two cocktails each. VERY low quality food at a VERY expensive price, and our waitress seemed like she wa... read more
The food was average at best, and definitely not worth the price.
Unfortunately we did not have the best time at Nia during restaurant week. They were very busy and seemed to be understaffed which was surprising given restaurant week is going on. We had different waitresses throughout our time there which made it a bit confusing and our courses were coming out of order. This wouldn’t have been a big deal but it was an 8-course dinner and strange to get our Frittes separate from our Steak and our pasta after our steak. It just felt a bit chaotic and unprepared.
The food came out cold or lukewarm and the service was lackluster. The servers were confused with what dishes we had ordered as they served us the wrong dishes a couple of times.
Contrary to other reviews, I was very unhappy with my experience. Also, I am not one to ever really negatively review a location unless it really rubbed me the wrong way... More below. I had the opportunity to try several of the dishes on Nia's 8 course menu during Chicago Restaurant Week, and I have to say, I was quite disappointed. One of the dishes I tried was the carbonara, which was unfortunately very salty and overwhelmed the other flavors in the dish. Another dish, the skirt steak, was extremely chewy and difficult to... read more
Was very excited to try this restaurant for Chicago Restaurant Week. However, service was not good. Took almost 30 min bt courses and couldn’t find staff in between. Took almost 45 min to flag someone down to get water. In addition, our order got messed up. At the end when we got our bill, tip was already included. Overall expected better.
The food was not that flavorful. The main dishes were cold. The drinks were too sour and felt that they were not made well
Disappointing. Nia salad was delicious. Scallops were not great and carrot purée had no flavor. $42 for 3 scallops and no side. Branzino was good, but overall not up to the hype. Very limited wine selection.
