Didn't last a full season! Hope I can find the paperwork so I can return. Bought this spring to replace 12 year old original pump. Sept 4 turned off to back wash/add chlorine. Turned back on and it just buzzes. Read other reviews saying the motors aren't as dependable anymore. I believe them. Lesson learned. Save and organize receipts and documentation. Don't assume new stuff will be same quality as yesteryears.
PB4-60 Replacement by homeowner Ordered the PB4-60 kit as my original (13 years old) was so loud we thought it would not make it another day. I order the pump saturday morning and to my surprise it was at my front door Monday when I got home. I went to work on it hoping the kit was included and had all I needed. About an hour later I had it installed and running. Its so quite I can hardly tell its running. Great price great delivery.
NOT DURABLE 2 Years Mine lasted exactly 2 years from install. Good thing it's got a 1 year warranty.
Just awful... this must be a racket or something Got my second replacement pump, having burned out the first one trying to connect the electricity, and got it hooked up using as much actual real information as I could gather from NOT Polaris. I believe it's hooked up correctly, but the Polaris instructions read something like There's this stuff called electricity. Use wires. Connect it. Turn it on. Now, having surfed the Internet for several hours compiling anything actually relevant and useful, I find there's almost nothing... read more
Warranty? I was under the impression that the pumps were warranted even if the homeowner installed it. Mine ran for 11 months and then it started sounding like a train with the brakes locked down. I get it, it's a numbers game..but I am leery of warranties now. Good luck.
Scott I had a similar experience as another reviewer - the pump went bad at 11 months but Polaris refused to honor the warranty because I installed it myself. I heard nothing more from them when I pointed out I have more experience that most of the technicians with local pool companies and have installed other replacement pumps. So, great price. But there is no warranty
Polaris pump The company under promised and over delivered. The pump was delivered as advertised and 3 days before promised. I felt like I got a great deal.
Coupla glitches I got the three main wires connected OK, but the pump would recycle for about two seconds then shut off. I hired an electrician who had to rewire the pump for 240 V power. Costly. Then, the polaris hoses and " quick": couplings are a joke. I defy any casual installer to force the retainer over the hose after it's pushed onto the "barb" of the coupling. The retainer is a good idea, but it's too small, so it's useless. I went with generic screw-on rubber hoses and silicone.
Quick Connect - Are you kidding Pool Supply World (5 stars). Unbeatable pricing. Prompt delivery of order, California to Texas 2 days. Polaris (Zodiac) Pump (probably 5 stars) The hose connections are another story (0 stars). As others have detailed the "Flex" hoses stiffness and wall thickness precludes advancing the retaining collar over the hose on the nipple far enough to engage the locking collar. An extremely poor excuse for engineering. This is not to mention that if you do it yourself, you void the warranty from Zodi... read more
