Wonderful service, great atmosphere
I come from Boston, and I'm accustomed to great sea food. This dining experience was superb. We each had the scallops, and they were as good as any I have ever had. The entrees do not come with any side dishes. The sides are too large for one person, but just right to split with someone else; and this keeps the cost down. Otherwise, if each person had a side dish the price can easily escalate. And without a side dish the meal would not have been well rounded (for me). Wow what an amazing restaurant. The ambiance was wonderful and it is not often that you get great service in NYC.
Very expensive for what it is, but food is good and service was friendly.
The pre-fix menu had plenty of options and value!
We went early so we beat the Friday night rush. Directly across from Carnegie Hall, it's corner location makes it easy to find. We were seated right away at the table of our choice. The service was attentive. The food reached the table without delay and was good, perhaps very good, but not great. The chowder was bland, and the seafood a little overdone but on the up side, the bartender was not stingy with our cocktails and our server, a young lady From Tennessee, was a delight.
Good food (not great). Small portions. Very pricey which mostly has to do with location and somewhat the coolness of the place. If you are willing to pay you do get a decent value.
I've been to the Redeye Grill a few times, but this was my wife's first. The other times I've eaten here, it was always quite good but this night didn't live up to it. We went after a show, and there were four items on the menu that were not available. The food and service we did get just seemed like everyone was going through the motions so they could get out of there for the night... Food was good but not great. I will think twice about coming back again on my next visit to the city.
We have never been disappointed. Been many times. Large groups or small.
