So my son took his truck to Rick's Automotive on South Campbell here in Springfield, just for a state inspection. They told him it would take $3000 plus dollars worth of repairs for it to pass. We took to two other shops for 2nd opinions(just to be sure the first one didn't overlook something). A $10.00 brake light later and he passed inspection. Neither shop could find any of the things wrong that Rick's Automotive claimed.

David, there must have been a miscommunication with your son's truck. We had his 1994 Ford Ranger in for a full vehicle maintenance inspection. The $3000 quote was to get his vehicle into top running shape needing various maintenance items. We did talk to your son regarding the following items that would fail a state inspection the excessive play in his ball joints being out of specification and brake hoses where swollen and the polyester chords where showing. RecommendedI went to another shop in town Saturday to get my oil changed & asked them to check out a "noise" in the front end of my car. I was given an estimate of $1200 to fix said noise & "other issues". Today, I took my car to Rick's Automotive to get their opinion. I left spending a total of $145 & this issue completely fixed. Moral of the story...ALWAYS get a second opinion! Also a BIG shoutout to Eric for all of his help today!
