CRIMINALS! this place sucks!! i tried this place out after adopting 2 rescue dogs. their prices are by far the highest in the area( which is saying a lot for the upper west side, impossible to get anything done for less the $3-400), they cancelled appointments at the last minute because the vet was not in the office after i had taken off early from work, the people at the counter are extremely rude and unhelpful, they mark up the pills at the counter 5-20x what they cost online, push unnecessary procedures and tests. the... read more
This place is the worst! I came to them to adopt a kitten and they barely would let me take her home and free her from their cages where she had been living for months. They said it was an adoption/rescue and then they charged me $200 after posting that they were looking for a nice loving home for their animal. No wonder why it had been there so long!! Also she is not well now and they said she was perfectly healthy and now they want me to pay more for visits and deworming. They suck!!
I agree with Jane d. The staff was nice enough, but they definitely try to push extra shots and tests on your pet regularly. And after my dog got sick last summer, I was trying to explain to the vet what I thought it was, but he wasn't really interested, he just wanted to run every test imaginable, which I'm sure they will justify. But I really felt like they just wanted to make as much money off of me as possible. After that day, I quickly switched to Westside Veterinary Clinic and I am very happy with them. Riverside was t... read more
I worked here. If you knew the truth about Dr. Raclyn and what goes on behind the scenes, you'd never bring your pets here. I went into vet medicine out of a true love for animals and unfortunately that's not true for all veterinarians. If you want your pets in the hands of knowledgeable, caring and honest professionals, and not a scamming and greedy bullshit artist, go elsewhere. Sorry to not provide the grim details, but I don't want my identity revealed. If you see Dr. K you should be okay, but no one else. I'm not writin... read more
If I could give them zero stars I would! Don't go here if you need pet prescriptions. I should have realized what a joke this place waswhen they recommended I fill one of my dog's seizure prescriptions at a up scale pharmacy that charged me $150 rather than going on pet-meds where I got the same thing for $15, after I had to call them repeatedly to approve the order. They've filled out my dog's second prescription (phenobarbital, a common drug) wrong five out of six times, including wrong dosage, no refills, and too much o... read more
Actually, the New York Post got it right. They may not have identified the correct vet in their article where a horrible incident happened, but the Riverside Group in the W. 70s is just as negligible. I took my cat there after he collapsed a few years ago, and was told he couldn't even be seen until I paid nearly $500 up front. While I was in the waiting room coming up with the $500, and my cat was suffering, I was then told the amount needed to even see a vet was raised to $750 and then again to nearly $1000. After tests an... read more
While the staff & doctors here are so friendly and efficient, a rarity in NYC customer service, I agree with a few of the other reviewers that the costs and over-treatment of your animals is just plain ridiculous. So many 'hidden' costs show up your bill that you would never expect when taking your dog in for something simple - there is always something MORE x 5 that you need to do or be giving your dog. This is not about not wanting to pay for what is necessary to keep my dog supremely healthy & happy, but it's just so ov... read more

STAY AWAY!!!!! I would give negative stars if it was possible!!! This is the worst Vet I have ever been to in all my existence!! I have this to warn people that Riverside Vet Group on W. 79th Street almost killed my cat. They basically refused to care for him over night when he was very ill and said he was fine to go home - and this is after I spent thousands of dollars over the past few weeks having him treated there and staying occasionally over night. I pleaded with them to watch him as I did not think he was ready t... read more
