This venue is DISGUSTING! A bride was not able to reschedule her wedding even though she was DIAGNOSED WITH BREAST CANCER recently, and the month of her October wedding she has to receive treatment and surgery. All she wanted to do was postpone! DISGUSTING these people will not work with her. I would steer clear of this venue if you want people with decency to handle your wedding. Take your money elsewhere! SELFISH

Absolutely disgusted at the lack of compassion and empathy this venue has for their customers, especially those with a unprecedented health diagnosis. Absolutely horrible

Rock island lake club is owned by un-compassionate selfish jerks who care for money above humanity. They have a bride booked for a weekend date in October of 2021 who just found out she has breast cancer. This young woman is planning out her trek to treatment and hopefully recovery, and will be undergoing surgeries and treatments on her original date. This venue REFUSES to rebook her a weekend date in October of 2022, because that would just cost THEM to much MONEY! Imagine looking a young woman who just got diagnosed with... read more

Business response:

Hello Eliza, There was some miscommunication surrounding the rescheduling of this wedding due to challenges presented by the pandemic. Our intention was to always help this couple move their wedding date, while remaining considerate of the other couples planning their weddings at our venue and we apologize if there was any miscommunication. We are working with the couple to move their wedding to 2022 and our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.

Has this year of illness and uncertainty and loss and death and general misery not taught you guys anything? How can you expect to run a successful business when you treat the customers paying you thousands of dollars for one of the most important days of their lives like literal garbage? I hope you guys are happy with yourselves because looks like you’ll be begging people to book those weekend slots. I’ll be making sure to tell all of my bride friends in the tristate area not to step foot anywhere near your establishment.

I don’t understand how anyone would even consider this venue after seeing the way you treat your brides. A poor girl was diagnosed with cancer and asked you to postpone her wedding (not cancel, just postpone) because she’ll be going through treatment on her wedding day and you said no? Compared her to every other covid bride? Are you kidding me? She’s not choosing to postpone because it’s convenient for her. If she had her wish, she wouldn’t have to postpone at all, but given the situation she’s enduring, she has no choice. ... read more

Zero empathy. Money hungry. Appalling treatment of a bride with new cancer diagnosis. I can [somewhat] understand being strict with Covid rescheduling but when someone is going through a life changing illness- you accommodate!!

My friend has just been diagnosed with cancer and wants to postpone her dates but she can’t as not a single member of your team has an ounce of empathy in their body. How can you not work with a bride that’s going through one of the toughest battles in her life? I cannot believe how you have treated your customers?! People that have PAID to go with you out of hundreds of other venues. Absolutely appalling and you should be ashamed of yourselves. I hope you rectify this.
