Owners Perry and Michelle should be appalled by the way their business is handling a bride who is going through cancer. I would seriously think twice and speak to local brides before booking this venue! It’s hard to deal with a company with doesn’t seem to have humanity and compassion on their side.

Business response:

Hello Jennifer, cancer has directly touched the lives of many of us at Rock Island Lake Club, so we understand firsthand how challenging this time is for the couple. There were some initial challenges with moving their wedding date due to rescheduling conflicts presented by the pandemic, but we are working with the couple to move their wedding to November 2022.

Extremely disappointed and disturbed by the way RILC is handling the rescheduling of a wedding that needs to be postponed because the young bride has been diagnosed with cancer. This is not a reschedule request due to COVID restrictions - let the couple reschedule to a weekend date the following year when the bride is done with treatments. Just disgusting. RILC clearly only cares about the money. Shameful.

Business response:

Hello Michelle, our intention was to always help this couple move their wedding date, while remaining considerate of the other couples planning their weddings at our venue and we apologize if there was any miscommunication. We are working with the couple to move their wedding to 2022 and our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.

Extremely turned off by this venue, It is so disheartening that a business can run this way.... a fellow bride I know has fallen on hard times medically and is suffering from Cancer, clearly this is hard enough to handle mentally on top of our current pandemic, unfortunately this venue has not been understanding in this situation and has only offered a day during the week (monday) to this young woman! I feel that this business right away should have at least tried to accomodate her better in some way... coming from a nurse m... read more

Rock Island should consider that certain circumstances warrant compassion. They should reevaluate how they do business, and place more value on the humans who line their pockets.

Business response:

Hello Maria, there was some miscommunication surrounding the rescheduling of the wedding we believe you are referring to due to challenges presented by the pandemic. However, we are working with the bride and groom to move their wedding to November 2022. Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time and we look forward to celebrating their wedding next year.

Would not book with this venue. Zero empathy for their clients and too money hungry. A venue while I understand, needs to make money, should also have some ethics. Covid has put a lot of venues in a hard position, however If they have no respect and heart, they don't deserve the buisness.

I do not recommend booking with a venue who has NO compassion or empathy for a bride just diagnosed with breast cancer. Instead of planning her dream wedding happening in 8 months she now has countless doctors appointments and treatments. The least this venue could show a little empathy and allow her to postpone to a weekend date next year!!! Steer clear!

IT’S THE LACK OF EMPATHY FOR ME!!! As if covid wasn’t enough this year...A current rock island lake club bride was just diagnosed with breast cancer. Meghan, only age 26, should be spending the next 8 months planning her dream wedding. Instead, she’ll be attending countless doctors appointments, undergoing a double mastectomy, receiving chemo and preparing for the long road to recovery ahead of her. When calling to find out her options, this venue offered her nothing!! As Meghan and her mother sat on the phone sobbing, this... read more

Only cares about money and has NO HUMAN COMPASSION. One of their brides who just got diagnosed with cancer wanted to move to a Sunday in 2022 so she doesn’t have to be bald or have chemo and they REFUSE! Are you kidding me ?!?!?! She is already booked on a Sunday so this is just ridiculous and disgusting

Do not recommend this venue. They are being cruel and not understanding at all to someone I know who was just diagnosed with breast cancer. They had the audacity to compare her situation to just another postponement because of Covid. They aren’t willing to work with her on getting her a weekend date in October of 2022, instead are only offering her a weekday. HAVE SOME EMPATHY!!!!!! Think twice about dealing with this venue who clearly only cares about money. I am absolutely disgusted and will never recommend your esta... read more
