I am a wedding performer and my band plays at this venue frequently. It has recently come to my attention that a bride who was due to be wed there in October of 2021 wants to reschedule her date due to a cancer diagnosis chemotherapy, and double mastectomy. The venue is refusing to accommodate her request to move to a Saturday in October 2022, because they'll "lose out financially"... offering only Monday Tuesday or Wednesday as their wedding replacement date. Shameful, highly unprofessional, highly insensitive and complete... read more
RILC should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. Don’t book here - they have zero empathy, zero compassion, zero understanding for a bride who needs to reschedule as she will be undergoing chemotherapy on her scheduled wedding date. I can’t imagine how this business cares SO LITTLE about people. Just sickening. Do not recommend is an understatement.
Business response:
Hello Rachel, there was some miscommunication surrounding the rescheduling of this wedding due to challenges presented by the pandemic. However, we are working with the bride and groom to move their wedding to November 2022. Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.
This place is horrible. It may look pretty but these people are rotten. Today, February 4th is World Cancer Day. To honor this day of awareness for this truly awful disease and the impact it has on millions everywhere. What do they do instead ? they add to the suffering of a cancer patient and refuse to allow her to change her original date as she will now be going through cancer treatment. HORRIBLE . STAY AWAY.

Hello Leeza, Cancer has directly touched the lives of many of us at Rock Island Lake Club, so we understand firsthand how challenging this time is for the couple. There were some initial challenges with moving their wedding date due to rescheduling conflicts presented by the pandemic, but we are working with the couple to move their wedding to November 2022.
I looked into this venue for my wedding but decided to pass. I am glad I made that decision because I was now made aware of a bride that put her deposit down on a wedding but needed to reschedule because she will now be undergoing chemotherapy and surgery on her scheduled wedding day. The venues only available options were to give the bride a weekday wedding, when she scheduled a weekend or have her forfeit her deposit. This really exposing the motives and morals of this venue and that they are truly only interested in money... read more

Hello Rachael, our intention was to always help this couple move their wedding date, while remaining considerate of the other couples planning their weddings at our venue and we apologize if there was any miscommunication. We are working with the couple to move their wedding to 2022 and our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.
I couldn’t be happier that we passed on this venue. Shameful people. If anyone you love has ever gone through the horrors of battling cancer - please book elsewhere. Their treatment of people going through this is disgusting.

Screw this place seriously! I’m furious they wouldn’t let a bride diagnosed with cancer to reschedule her wedding to next year. I cant even IMAGINE what shes going through. I cant stand venues like this that have no compassion and only care about the money!!!!

Imagine telling a woman who just found out she has cancer that you can’t reschedule her wedding because you’d miss out on a new booking next year. This woman is going to miss out on parts of her life because of this. Do NOT get married here. I have heard nothing but COVID horror stories from my friends who made the mistake of signing a contract with these people and this is the icing on the cake. RUN.
No compassion. No heart. No empathy. Definitely not a place you’d want to get married at. One of their brides was diagnosed with cancer and they won’t even allow her to RESCHEDULE. She doesn’t even want to cancel she just doesn’t want to get married while going through chemo and this venue won’t even give her that. Money means more than anything to these people. Unless they correct their wrongs for this bride I would steer clear of this place

You shouldn’t get married here, because if you need the change anything the venue will be unreasonable and not give two f*cks what you’re going through. The entire staff should be ashamed of themselves. They would rather get their money than help a bride have her dream wedding.
