The Brockman Lofts are located in a beautiful building, which makes it a real shame that management is so insistent on cutting corners and not delivering on its promise of "luxury" apartments. As an example, another reviewer brought up the fact that we've had several instances where both elevators in the building have been down at the same time--most recently for about a week and a half. This is not acceptable in a 12 story building. Taking the stairs is not a "luxury" experience. It's also not acceptable from a safety persp... read more

Business response:

Jane, We invest significantly in preventative maintenance of all building systems including the elevators. We do not "cut corners" as you asserted in your review. We own this building and are therefore extremely diligent about ensuring it is properly maintained. Regarding the elevators, it is important to understand that modern elevators are a combination of mechanical device and extremely complicated computers. And in a residential building, they are often in constant use. In order to ensure they remain in the best conditi... read more

Property tagline: "100 Years of History. A New Level of Luxury." I really don't like to write bad reviews, but I feel this is warranted. My husband and I have lived here since February 2012. As a long time resident I can tell you that this building does not provide any level of luxury. If you are looking for Four Seasons or Ritz-Carlton level of service, you will not get it here. The service here is bested by a mid-level property like Courtyard or Wyndham, even on a good day. This property is managed out of a siste... read more

Business response:

Brandon, I have told you on multiple occasions that I'm happy to address any concerns you have - but posting negative reviews with false information is unacceptable. I have even met you for coffee to discuss your issues - so you know very well that I am receptive and responsive to our residents' concerns. On-Site Management: The Brockman front desk is staffed 24hrs/day, 7 days/wk, 365 days/yr. There are times when they are away from the desk to use the restroom, assist a resident, patrol the exterior or residential floors,... read more

Read the review from MarkInLa below, he nailed it to a T!! Not a week goes by that something is not broken. Only night time person at the desk, daytime it's empty. Hardly a luxury experience but def at luxury price. My next lease will be at the Roosvelt where things work and front desk people are always there. Simpson properties needs to stop cutting corners and deliver what they promised. After a year I've decided to move up the street to Roosevelt. The people are great, the staff is another story. There is one doorman t... read more

The people who live here are great. The management, not so much. One of our two elevators has been out of order for over three weeks now. Yesterday someone was moving in or out of the building. That made for a bad day for the folks higher up in the building. Getting basic repairs completed can also be a chore for tenants, more than the management. It's a waiting game. Like with the elevators......

Business response:

Hi Tom, We're very happy to hear that you are pleased with the quality of your neighbors at Brockman. We agree - you truly are a wonderful group of people. With regard to the elevator issue - we completely understand, and share in, your frustration. As you know from the updates we have sent to all residents, we contacted Schindler Elevator (the elevator manufacturer and service company) as soon as the elevator went down. They responded that day and determined that replacement of a part was required in order to restore servic... read more

I contacted Brockman Lofts 4 days prior to a visit to Los Angeles so that I could get a tour. The person who confirmed my appointment - Marcus Villamar - informed me that he would be away that day, but that Evonnie Houston (who was cc'd on his email) would meet me at 3:30 for a tour. I was running early, so called the Brockman to see if my appointment could be moved up to 3:00. I was surprised to speak to the security guard, who informed me that the leasing office was closed, and that none of the leasing agents were aroun... read more
