I Love My Place! I just moved in and so far my place has been great, it's an older building and it's in the city, so yes, it has it's issues but nothing that has made me regret my decision. Pros: Maintenance comes within the day and fixes anything you need. The neighborhood is safe and well lit. The building is quiet and has a vintage charm, the outdoor poo is great, workout area is convenient, Hyde Park is walk-able and has plenty to do. I love 53rd street! The flamingo My experience with my apartment has been pretty nice. The apartment company is very accommodating. The apartment itself is very small and the parking is very difficult at times. Overall I like the area but bar louie customers can sometime be disruptive in summer, the apartment company needs to keep a doorman, which they have occasionally.
Don't let the reviews scare you away! I was hesitant to schedule a visit to see Flamingo Apartments after reading the reviews on this site. However, I had to see for myself. I scheduled a visit with the assistant property manager, Kai and exactly 3 months later I was scheduled to move in. Great Apartment, Great Neighborhood & Right On Lake! I have lived here for going on over a year and find it to be a great apartment. The building has character; it is well maintained and kept very nice. The one thing I really like as compared to other apartments is that you never, ever hear your neighbors -- the walls/floors/ceiling is very sound proof, plus the people that live in the building are very respectful and pleasant people. The location is great in summer! I found the apartment (studio) too small compared to others I had seen in the neighborhood. The apartment is very nice and the building looks superb. Having grown up in Hyde Park, living that close to the lake in winter can be brutal especially with the wind. The location is perfect for public transit and grocery shopping and schools are nearby.
Verified Renter The place is good, however, for the price we pay we should not be having this many problems. Parking is not assigned so good luck finding Parking at night or especially in the summer when everyone from all over comes to party down stairs and they're allowed to park in our parking lot. Also, the parties go on from 10am/11am/12pm until 4-5 in the morning and we can't sleep because of the noise.
