I was at work with my office door open when a beautiful huskie walked in and plopped down on my office floor. She had a collar but no tags. After work we took her to the vet hospital to she if she was chipped. Unfortunately she was not but she had a large wound that was healing on her shoulder so the staff wanted her looked at before we left. While we were waiting, the dog's mom called and we were able to get her home. The staff were wonderful, gave us options of what to do with the pup in case we couldn't find her owne... read more

My vet here in Lawrence gave me the bad news: the lump on my dog's leg was cancer, and she had a tumor on her spleen, too. He said, "If anyone can save her leg, it's Dr. Millard in Wichita. And while I think most vet surgeons would first take out the tumor on the spleen and then see how that goes, Dr. Millard might do it all at once (to spare my dog two recoveries and surgical costs) if you're okay with it." Dr. Millard in fact agreed to do both surgeries at once, and she was sure she could remove the tumor on the leg while ... read more

Thank you for your review, Laura! We will share with Dr. Millard!

Our vet Dr Christine Skaer sent us to Dr Heather Millard when it became necessary to do surgery on our BIG boy in August. He had a TPLO on left hind leg. Everyone at the VE&SHoW was wonderful with Chuck. He recovered from surgery, has gone on to running on all four legs again. However, at Christmas time, the cold weather caused some limping so Dr Millard rechecked Chuck as we were concerned, he might have reinjured the leg, Dr Heather & surgery staff did a wonderful job of rechecking him and assured us that all was well wi... read more

A week ago, we rushed our sweet dog Goose over from our vet. He had a linear blockage and required urgent exploratory surgery that our vet was unable to do. The entire office, from the receptionists to the surgical team, was absolutely incredible! They kept us informed every step of the way (and then some). They treated him like he was their own family. Dr. Millard has texted multiple times to check on Goose, including right after surgery. She has also reminded us that her personal cell is always open to us during his healin... read more

Business response:

Thank you for your amazing review, Casey! We love what we do and are glad to be here for you and Goose! We are so glad that both of your babies are doing well!

I cannot say enough good things about this place!! My dog needed emergency surgery, and she received excellent care here. I am a former ER nurse (for humans) so have seen several companies deal with emergency medical care in my life, but the time these staff took to explain the condition and treatment options, as well as the communication, was top-tier. I got a call or text at every stage of my pet's surgery and recovery. The amount of caring and empathy shown was above-and-beyond. I highly highly recommend for emergen... read more

Thank you, Chrissy. We love hearing these types of things!

Our cat got sick rapidly. He was vomiting and having diarrhea. It was on Friday almost at 5 PM so all veterinary clinics were closed. I have called Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital of Wichita. Staff were very polite and helpful while directing me on our registration process while we were on our way to the hospital. Dr. Townsley have examined our cat and showed high professional approach in diagnostic and treatment of our pet. She described the issue very clearly and gave helpful recommendations together with pre... read more

My dog needed more extensive surgery than my regular Veterinarian provided so we went to the emergency hospital. Dr Heather Millard did a fine job on the surgery and also calming my fears (several times). She and Nurse Mallory did an excellent job. The whole staff was pleasant and easy to work with.

Business response:

Thank you for your kind compliments, Becky!

Our pet dog, Max, had a mass removed by Dr. Heather Millard. Dr. Millard and Nurse Mallory and staff were so compassionate when they gave us the results that Max had stage 3 sarcoma. Max had to go back in because he chewed on his staples and the wound site reopened. Dr. Millard put more staples in at no charge and firmly, but kindly, told us to make sure Max wore his cone. We felt so bad but never felt condemned or judged by staff. We were just educated that although Max was well loved (and spoiled), we could't trust him not... read more

Business response:

Thank you, Cynthia. Again, we are sorry about the sarcoma news. Thank you for taking the time to provide our team with the feedback about how well our staff did!
