My ex-husband was admitted to the Dementia Unit at Westgate and he has asked me to express his appreciation to all the kind, caring staff. He has now returned to his home and believes this is due to the excellent care he received during his stay. His dementia hasn’t reached the stage where he needs to live in a residential home yet but has said if it does, he would choose Westgate. I was so pleased when I heard that I was coming here, as I had been here in 2017/18. Everyone here is so kind and helpful and it was so nice that most of the staff that I met last time were still here. An excellent place although not easy to find.
Day time staff (Mon- Fri) are excellent in every way. The staff at night are not so good at the weekend and sometimes not helpful.
General experience good overall. Level of care provided by all staff was better than I expected based on previous perceptions of care home environments of which I had no previous experience. Special mention to the physio staff who gave me extra support to enhance my recovery and to the care staff many of whom went beyond the basics to help me and my family. I would have no hesitation in recommending Westgate House Care Centre as a provider of residential care.
I came here for rehab on the 5th Feb and am delighted through the positive approach to my care and exercises and physio. I am deemed ready for home after 10 weeks in the hospital and this has been a refreshing experience and an excellent rehab experience and I am ready for the next stage of being home.
The whole experience was very good. I thought the whole staff were excellent in the way they conducted my 86th birthday - first class. The friendly attitude of the staff from top to bottom made for a good, healthy atmosphere.
Thank you all very much for what you have done for me. Everything is so clean. Meals are nice.
The care and therapy was excellent. Everybody helped me and made me feel at home. The food was very tasty you feel you could eat all day to the best I've ever had.
The facility is very well run and the staff very approachable and easy to deal with. As a rest home, it was ideal, but we understood there would strenuous rehabilitation exercises and productive work which there wasn't. My father is a very energetic 86 years old and found himself bored but there are reception rooms so could be his own fault.
