That was a waste of money This scanner is not cheap. I paid a lot for it and it was not compatible with my computer. When we called and asked for assistance, their technicians were not able to help us either. That was a waste of money. I am extremely disappointed with this product given the fact that Brother is a name brand product.
Works as well as the Fujitsu for everyday scanning I bought two of these items. One works great. The other one has an issue with the computer and takes 5 min to scan. I think the problem there is some anti virus software blocking communication with the scanner. To overcome that issue we don't use the computer scan software. Instead we scan from the scanner to a network drive. Then is works just fine with a slight increase in overhead time to get the scan from the network drive. The only good part was breaking it with a bat after months of frustration I went with price over quality and I regret it. I had a scansnap and decided Brother usually makes good products and it was far cheaper so I went with this. First, the interface and control center are awful. To say it isn't user friendly doesn't do it justice. Second, the frustration of scanning a document and then nothing happening with the software to allow you to save or name it is amazing. Software bugs - Waste of Money The software uninstalls itself or malfunctions on a weekly basis, requiring me to uninstall and then reinstall the scanner. This is extremely irritating and time consuming. UPDATE: 4/19/18 - This scanner is a piece of crap. It keeps uninstalling itself, jamming, and now it scans documents and seems to shrink the image so there is a gray bar at the top and bottom of all scanned documents. Bad scanner - stay away To be blunt, this scanner sucks. Don't waste your money. The only reason I'm giving it two stars is because it sometimes did succeed in scanning my documents correctly. But it jammed a lot, couldn't handle certain types of paper that looked exactly like other types, crashed the scanning software on my computer several times, and forced me to restart my computer more than once. Jams scanning anything more than 10 pages I've used this unit (2000e) for a few months now to scan documents for electronic filing. It jams easily scanning anything over 10 pages. A "multi page" error appears and I have to start all over again. I have followed Brother's tech advice to use thicker paper to adjust the separators but this unit still fails when I try to scan 15 pages or more.

Save your money The software provided for this product never worked properly. When installing the ControlCenter4 software it gets stuck at a point to connect the USB cable and never progresses. Tho only solution support recommends requires using a windows 7 pc to update the firmware. No access to a windows 7 PC What a piece of junk

The negatives outweigh the positives. I use Windows 10 64-bit, and I downloaded all the software, including the update patch, directly from the website, because the included disc does not list Windows 10 support. YMMV. I bought this scanner to use for projects that I complete for work, involving scanning printed public records from various courthouses.
