Just ok. It's beautifully decorated, the service is excellent, but the food was inconsistent. Some of it was awesome (spare ribs & lobster bisque), but the Maine lobster entree tasted "fishy" and was over-cooked. The steak was ok. I expect more from the Bartolotta's and have had great food at Lake Park Bistro & Mr. B's. In this experience there was no "passing the fork" or "you've got to taste this". Perhaps it was just who was cooking around 7pm.
The food and service on a "holiday" (Valentine's Day weekend) was not on par with the normal Bacchus experience. The service was slow, we had to wait 15 minutes just to get a napkin that usually is given immediatly upon seating, the pared down menu was not as good as the normal menu, and our server was absent for a long period of time. The extra tables added in one of the rooms made for a less enjoyable experience as well. My husband and I enjoyed our dinner. This is a classy restaurant and very romantic.
The Bacchus sets the bar of excellence for fine dining in Milwaukee. A beautiful restaurant with a commendable staff. The best part is of course the food; meticulously prepared and presented. Not one bite went un-savored. This is a restaurant I would unabashedly recommend to anyone.
Expensive, but one of the best restaurants in the city. Food and service were both excellent. Absolutely great for a special occasion.
I have eaten at Bacchus many times and was alwasy a really big fan, but was disappointed on this visit. They didn't have the prosecco by the glass listed on the wine list, they didn't have the bottle of wine I ordered from the wine list, and when I asked the servier for a recommendation for something similar she pointed me to a bottle that was 2x the price, when there was actually another very similar wine from another producer for about the same price as the original one I had wanted. We were are avid diners and looked forward to our night out here. While the ambience was lovely, we wouldn't call it a special occasion restaurant. We had three servers working with us. The youngest of these seemed rather inexperienced and insisted on filling our glasses to the rim with sparkling water ensuring that our water was flat before consumption. Very nice experience overall...great food & great service. Only little hiccup was the dessert timing, however, the server explained the issue & then took the charge off of our bill. Nice new menu with small plates...an opportunity to try a little of everything
It was very nice. I couldn't believe all the kids that were there. Luckily none near us. Salmon was a little under done. Would go again.
