Service was fast! But the salad bar was horrible. The salad was brown, fries were extremely over cooked, burgers weren't awful but definitely not what they should be. The salad bar was $10!! $10 for salad bar is absolutely ridiculous!! The cleanliness here isn't very good! It seems quite dirty to be honest. If you get options to go to other restaurants don't go here! This place is obviously having problems financially!!

It's 8 o'clock at night and I have a party of 14. Looking for a great salad from the salad bar with soup. Only the cabbage is left, everything else has long since dried out and has been emptied. I asked what time they closed and they said 10 o'clock. I asked if any new soup coming out, or if they had any in the back. Of course the answer was no. I had to order a burger instead, even though I wanted a salad. What kind of national chain can accept this kind of quality. You have lost a customer at this location for good... read more

We often stop at this Big Boy on our way to Boyne and on july, 25th 2011 we had a awful lunch. Waited over a half a hour and when our food showed up she(theresa) asked if everything looked okay and it all looked good except my sons endless pasta lunch was not ready. Whoops that will be right out she told us.Cook forgot it, with that deer in the headlight look.So the other 4 of us finished our lunch before it showed up because she forgot the damn order and taking a order on memory should be banned. Horrible.... I went there and heard the manager yelling and freaking out like she thought the world was going to end.... the waitstaff was very nice and seemed to care about my family and our needs. Then after talking to a different manager about a spoon I had gotten that had a large chip out of it (so I could get another) after I said it was probably from the shake machine he agreed and then when I walked away he started laughing and said "wow there are actually a few costumers smarter than us"!! We know the economy is bad, okay ? But turn up the damned heat, turn on the hot water in the bathroom and tell the waitresses to lighten up a bit. We froze, the waitress was pretty cold too and the food was half the portions we remembered having last time we were in Michigan. You could always count on Big Boy for uniformly good food but I can't vouch for the Gaylord Big Boy.
