I have dealt with depression for half of my life. My meds have been adjusted or changed many times, This past year I had been slipping into severe anxiety and mood swings that I have not had before. When I felt suicidal, my local doctor found me a place in Cedar Crest. I was only there for one week but benefited greatly. They helped me get on the correct medicine and dosages. The group therapy classes were offered and I attended them. Strategies were discussed that I use at home when I feel I need them. Music and a... read more

Our recently adopted 15 year old son spent a month at this RTC. They were kind, caring and treated him with respect. When he came to live with us, he was out of control...violent, abusive and defiant. We tried different doctors, different meds and different therapists. Nothing helped very much of for very long. Our family was "circling the drain" . As a last resort we tried Cedar Crest. We didn't expect much. Wow!! Within 24 hours of his admission, his new psychiatrist called us and we were on the phone for over an ... read more

I was an adult patient suffering an emotional breakdown as a result of two events in my life. First, an automotive accident that resulted in four lower spine vertebrea badly dislocated for which I had been scheduled for surgery. However the day before I caught a virus that was devistating the community and had to postpone it. My husband of over forty years was at the time dealing with alcoholism and could not cope with the prospect of my situation, post-op, so he left me. Needless to say I did not know what to do. A nei... read more

Our youngest daughter, who was adopted through CPS at the age of 6, was emotionally imploding as she entered her teens. For over 2 years, she progressively deteriorated and was in and out of acute facilities. It got to the point where a residential inpatient treatment was needed and Cedar Crest accepted her. After admission, she continued to deteriorate. We were afraid we were loosing her. As she deteriorated, the hospital staff stepped up to the plate with a more intense regimen and regrouped on her diagnosis. I can s... read more

My teenage son was there recently in the acute treatment center. We have nothing but good things to say. We live in College Station and there is a behavioral hospital here...my son was there once, and it was a terrible experience (bad food, bad beds, rude staff). My son said that Cedar Crest is way better. The food is better, the beds are better, and the people were really nice to him. I felt like I got a lot of communication from the people at Cedar Crest as well, as opposed to the hospital in College Station. If you live i... read more
