Hello, I was a patient at Cedar Crest Residential around two years ago in early 2020 right before the pandemic started and I would like to say I recommend no one go here or send their children/family. For context I have been struggling with depression, C-PTSD, and other disorders for as long as I can remember and I was fresh out of an attempt when my history lead to me being forced to choose between Cedar Crest or A mental hospital in Austin and I desperately wish I'd chose Austin. To begin with my caretaker and I were ...Ā read more
I'm a previous employee of Cedar Crest Hospital. I wouldn't send my dog there. This place don't care about there employees so all the good ones are gone. They're under staffed and unable to provide quality care. There are no cameras in the facility. They don't want cameras cause they would catch what's going on. If they had cameras they would be closed. The CEO only care about money so they don't turn down patient even when they know they're under staffed. The things that gone on are not intentional. It's mistakes and errors...Ā read more
Not a Good hospital. It had potential. I like the fact that I was able to listen to music on YouTube. I really can't say anything else that is positive. The food was worse than high school cafeteria food. They withheld my meds, my natural soap and body wash, journal and my sandals. This wasn't the problem though. The problem was disrespect I received from a graveyard shift nurse. She was condescending and called me a jerk when I was having severe emotional issues. I went in there to receive help not confrontation. Also...Ā read more
This is a terrible place tosend a person that is already suffering from mental illness or suicidiality. Prescribed meds from the patients' regular psychiatrists are not given. No explanation is ever provided. The staff mocks, insults and makes fun of the patients, even creating terrible names for them. The patients are bullied and I'm surprised if no one has come out and committed suicide right out of discharge. This place should be shut down. I know of one certified psyche nurse that worked one shift there and she said sh...Ā read more
please read this before anything: know that you have 10 minute calls 3x a week. it's always short staffed. you will barely go outside, to the gym, on outings, and will spend most of your time in small room where most of the kids are sitting on the floor -- not by choice, there aren't enough chairs. there are a lot of fights normally a minimum of 2 a week, there is always always always beef. i saw my therapist twice a week; once for individual and once for family. (i had more therapy when i was living at home). becuase of my ...Ā read more
This facility poorly staffed. It is impossible to get a call from a Therapist and never a doctor. Their solution to parents calling to speak with the Therapist or Dr. is to discharge them! I would NEVER put anyone I loved in the facility.Ā
My son, 25 with bipolar, was admitted in crisis. He was deprived of water. Water! Tiny dixie cups every several hours is not acceptable. He came home severely dehydrated. This is only 1 of several other complaints. Also, the Dr. should be retire or be replaced. Disregard and obviously being burnt out isn't serving the impatient population well. This place was the only option I was aware of being new to Central Texas. I am relieved to know there are 2 other options elsewhere.Ā
Would give zero stars if i could: Absolutely the worst place, if its your only option and desperate then you have no choice. They will not communicate with you, you will never get to talk to the doctor, they have horrible phone times and with COVID no visitation. HOrrid. The nursing staff and unit secretary's are horrible- Sarah is very rude. The only redeeming factor for the place is their patient advocate Emily she is 5 star, but unfortunately she can't be there all the time with your child or loved one. My daughter has be...Ā read more
My husband was sent there back in February because Scott and White Psych unit was full. He arrived on a Sunday morning. They gave him no medication. Because of his mental state, the nurse told me he was refusing food and liquids while there. On Tuesday I had a meeting with the social worker, my husband reeked of urine. I managed to get him to drink about 2-3 ounces of water down while there. They said they would work with him on eating and drinking. Finally, on Thursday afternoon they called me to say they were sending him t...Ā read more
