My mother does not remember a call from Clear Rate Communications and definitely did not agree to switch to their phone service! I assume she fell prey to aggressive and predatory marketing. I have had this type of "sales" call myself, and they make it hard to NOT say "yes". Very tricky! It appears that her old phone company may be able to switch her back, including her old phone number. Fingers crossed! One start because zero is not an option.
I had the same experience as Ron *. My mother is 87 years old and she is in a memory care unit. Clear Rate contacted her in January (right after we all called her for her birthday at the end of December) to ask if she wanted to change phone services and easily convinced her to do so. First problem - I have complete POA for her and the phone was in my name - they moved her service to Clear Rate without my permission, began to bill her directly instead and then cut off her service for non-payment. a RIP OFF company that prey on the elderly. My folks did not order this service (clear rate communications made an unsolicited sales call) and ASSUMED they wanted this service and they did not. Now my folks received one of their first past due notices from this rip off company they did not order. I am not sure how the bbb can give scams like this an A+
As with the other reviewers the same thing just happened with my brother January 2020!!! He has MS and had a stroke less than a year ago, speech isn’t the best, understanding gets foggy at times and they talked to him about using this service, Internet, phone, it was better, cheaper etc. and him not fully understanding switched from Verizon a service he’s had for 20+years with an awesome bundle to CLEAR RATE My brother thinking they were connected ????, he called and told me after the fact, everyday he has called Clear Rate ... read more
