With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

My #1 combo came with 2 chicken strips that were just okay. Fries were good. But I discovered I had to pay extra for my drink. Bread came with the meal but it's basically there to catch chicken juice. Price seemed high for what I got. Staff were nice but I asked for a receipt and was told it was in the bag. It was not! Will I visit again? Probably not.
Chicken is really good! Has amazing flavor, service was good and fast! Only down fall is they don't offer any wet rubs! The sand which bread is way to small compared to the actual chicken!
While in Salem in mid-June my son and his girlfriend happened to notice Dave's Hot Chicken while running errands. Of course we had to try it the next day. We ordered our food to go. We were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. The chicken was still crispy even after a 20 minute drive. We ordered the tender and fries (mild spice level) and the slider and fries (medium spice level). The spice levels were just right. Sometimes you go to restaurants and their spices levels are too spicy for even mild level.
Chicken was good. Customer service was great. And the shakes were fire. The restaurant was nice and clean and well put together.
Good chicken and sides...as expected. The wait in the drive-thru was shorter than expected too. Watch your six Chick-fil-A
As we continue to try every restaurant in Salem, we veered off the traditional and tried a fast food joint since Dave's is new in town. First and most importantly, this restaurant is not for the health conscious person, between the deep fry and salt I'd give it a 0 out of 5. Three older people were near us and All of them dumped their lunches. I found it odd that they put an emphasis on tipping as they don't truly serve you in any way. As far as ambience goes, it's cute! Enjoyed my first time at Dave's hot chicken! I heard a lot about this restaurant and wanted to check it out for myself. It did not disappoint- the chicken has lots of flavor and love the added slaw and crispy pickles. Staff was friendly!
Had a great first experience at Dave's hot chicken in Salem OR. Food was delicious and we received our food very quickly. Love the outdoor seating options. There was a slight error on our order and they were quick to replace the item and check in on us after.
