My son who goes to USF introduced us to this place. He found out about it from his professor! (Everybody is talking about it lol). The chicken is so good! There is a bit of a wait time so plan ahead. Every time we come to town, we get Dave's Hot chicken.

Dave's Hot Chicken is a great choice for fast food with home style quality. The prices were a little higher like a restaurant, but the portions and the flavor make it worth every cent. We tried the sliders, the tenders, the shake, and my son had the Mac and cheese. They even had vegetarian options on the menue with cauliflower sliders. The fries were delicious and well seasoned. Menu was simple and straight forward. Service was decent- the chicken- It was fried well and the fries were good, but the chicken was not flavorful hot- it simply had an overpowering pure cayenne pepper hot. The moment I opened the box it was pure cayenne pepper. There were mild, medium, hot , extra hot, etc. I got the mild and my husband got the hot. His was unbearable. Mary is amazing!!! I forgot to add spice while mobile ordering and she helped me spice things up! I love going to Dave's hot chicken! The service and help is unparalleled!! The ambiance is chill

The restaurant itself and the staff seemed nice. Restaurant was clean. Food is ok but extremely salty, and I'm not sure why. There are other spicy chicken sandwich places nearby like PDQ or Mad Chicken and the food is not as salty at those places.

Tried Dave's Hot Chicken for the first time while I was in Toronto. I went to school at USF, but I do not live local. I had messaged one of my classmates about how good the food was up in Toronto, and they pointed out that there was a location in Tampa. So naturally, after class one day I had to look it up and sure enough it was just down the street. I always ordered takeout before I head home after classes. It's hard for me to find fried chicken that I really like. But my bae insisted I'd try this spot and boy did it blow me out of the water. Loved EVERYTHING and I'm still thinking of their mac. Only regret I have is ordering the medium spice level. Got to try their reaper and would either go for that or the Extra Hot next time.
