Finally something that works on Linux! I got this one to work on Mint with libsane, and whatever else i apt-getted in the process! Brother actually makes a driver for it on their support site! Big ups to them for that! I gave it a 4 star so far, because it still took more than just installing the driver to make it work. When you first connect it, it won't work. Good for Linux I bought this little scanner to try to rid myself of all of this paper accumulated over the years, hopefully to consolidate all of these various files, receipts, tax records, etc. into a manageable file system on my desktop. It works well with both Linux and Windows, scans in color/duplex, to PDF or whatever other flavor you like. Terrific small scanner We bought this for "emergency" use if a document needed to be scanned away from the normal office environment. It has worked just fine for pdf's which is all we've done so far.
Excellent for going paperless I'm tired of being swamped with paperwork, bills, medical records. I purchased this scanner to go paperless. This scanner is fast enough to keep me from being bored. I can scan a multi-page bill in 15 seconds. The full duplex feature is nice, but I don't use it very often. In hindsight, I would not hesitate to get the non duplex version. The small size is nice. Can't beat it for the price When I bought this I paid under $100. After using it, I would have expected to pay upwards to $150 on this scanner. Some may say that the software included is pretty weak, but the fact is that it works perfect for scanning images or pdf's into a folder. Any post processing is up to you. I bought this to replace the NEAT portable scanner which failed just after a year. Great duplex scanner for the price I bought this to digitize letter sized documents. Working great so far. Scans both sides in 300 dpi B&W/Grayscale under 10 seconds. It's compact, and really easy to use too.
Great single-feed scanner I was debating on whether or not to get this scanner or the SVP 2-in-1 scanner. Now that I have had a chance to use the DS720D, I am very happy with the decision I made. The main thing I like about it is the control you have in the software for how pages are scanned. When scanning a document, you have the option to capture pages as an image file or PDF.
