This Extra-Storage has this terrible suck-ass problem, that is the gate opening / closing code does not work properly and it really sucks for many miserable customers there. This is the first time we moved in this Extra-Space storage, i mean if we know ahead of time this issue, we probably decided differently that we would not chose this one. I have been renting from extraspace for 4 years. Every 6 months they send me a notice telling me that are raising my rate. I started at $150, and now I am paying $210 per month for a 10x20. Today I asked the new guy next to me (same size unit) how much he is paying and he said "$130!". I was furious. I pulled everything out of my unit and closed my account the same day. They will raise YOUR rates continuously to give the NEW customer a lower rate.... then raise their rates to give the next customer a lower "entry" rate... read more

Low score because they are dishonest. Made reservation, even went prior in person, showed them my home owners insurance policy to get discount, move-in day...they see you have all your stuff, signed papers and it did not have the discount, they PROMISED me that this is the way they had to initially set it up and for the next month on, the discount will be applied. Hint: sign up the week or day BEFORE you move in. Then if they don't give you the correct rate....MOVE ON!! Bunch of jerks. This happened last year but of course ... read more

I've never rented another storage company so I have nothing to compare it to. I've had my storage unit for a little over a year and recently I received my 3rd notice for a raise in rent. When I first rented the unit it was $72. Then it went up to $77....then $84.....now it's going to $90! That's a 25% increase in 1 year! Needless to say, I will be looking for somewhere else to store my things.

this place sucks. They stole my $10 deposit and they just try to scam you. They're really impossible and annoying to deal with on the phone.

DO NOT RENT FROM HERE! They are dishonest, they will scam you, they will take you can pay on one date, then say they never said that, then assess you more fees, then do whatever they can to prevent you from paying so that they can auction off your stuff! I was behind one month and when I went to pay, they told me they would not take my money because paying the full month was only a "partial payment" since I called to pay on the day the new month kicked in. Run!!! it's my recomendation. I'm starting a civil action against Extra Space Storage on 1400 Folsom St., and against some of his employes and his independent contractors. They broke and changed the luck on my storage unit. When I found out i was surrised and chocked. One of the employees broke the new luck and when I opened my storage I have realized that things were missing. They blamed the truck driver who works with them as an 'independent contractor'. I called Extra Space Storage about 10 days ago to get a quote on storage rates. What I expected would be a 2-minute phone call took 10 or 15 minutes as I was given the total hard-sell treatment. The representative I spoke to tried to get me to put a deposit down no less than 4 times! I informed him that I was just calling for rates for my business and that I wasn't authorized to put down a deposit but that if he'd just give me the rates, then I'd talk to my business partners and get back to him.
