I had a great experience with this Extra Space Storage. Pricing is affordable, made all the arrangements online - including canceling the account after I vacated, location is pretty good, visible security, and being able to drive into the building to load/unload makes for clean rainy day moves. I think they also have a truck you can borrow for free?... I rented a U-Haul cargo van for $20 and I'd recommend that for personal flexibility. I have nothing but good things to say about this place and the people who work there. They were always helpful and informative. Had two units for about 2 years and had a positive experience the whole time. I wish they were open later, but I'll trade later hours for the rest any day.
With the volatile nature of living situations in SF, I have had need of storage units several occasions over the years. I always come back to this location. I was very unhappy when they turned from Crockers Lockers to Extra Space, but the fact that they have the same gentlemen working in the office that have been extremely helpful and terribly nice, even when I was late in paying, kept me from jumping ship. I have been extremely happy with the way I have been treated by Extra Space Storage. I received a great deal, my son received a referral bonus when I decided to also rent space, we were allowed use of a large truck, and the first month was free. Mark was very patient with me while I looked over several units before deciding on one. And at this point I just pay online. Totally convenient.
When's the last time a business gave a stranger something for free in this or any city? Extra Space Storage earns 6 stars for giving me 2 free hanger bars for wardrobe boxes that I got from craigslist. The place is rennovated, clean and well run. I guess they understand the value of good will in the community and how it separates their business from the numerous other ones in this area. Kudos
The main elevator was out and there was no one at the desk. Well thats not cool. How are people supposed to remove their items when they need it.

Seriously this place is a dive level storage co. It is dirty on the inside. I don't expect a Taj Mahal, but it is dirty on the inside and last thing I'll say to those who are serious about doing business with this company. Their price has 100% every unit set to a $40 markup four months in. Whether you downsize or keep the unit they will not allow a different price rate. so let me in include that for the last month of my rental there the location had a broken down service elevator. Brian has always been positive and Stellar.,Today however I had a strange encounter with someone by the name of ANNE who stopped by to inform me that there's no "hanging out" and that the door needed to be "open"- I did not know what was meant by this encounter because the door was not closed-I mentioned to Anne that I was in the middle of making a phone call and politely asked her would it be ok if I made a phone call??? They doubled the price within 2 months of signing up. I was assured that they will not change it but more than 10-15%, but clearly they don't care. I had to spend extra money to empty the storage and move it to Storelocal, who don't follow these bad practices. Also, their storage units are only ~6 feet tall, so not a lot of space inside. The single star above goes to Anne, who was really pleasant to talk with.
