I had a very positive experience with Extra Space. When in transition with my move I needed a storage facility nearby. This isn't the most exciting endeavor and I figured it would be as irritating as the rest of the moving process. I was pleasantly surprised by this facility, however. Shaun (sp?) was always very friendly and helpful, she's great. The other staff I encountered were also very friendly each time. A friend of mine's girlfriend works for Extra Space Storage and helped me find this location when her location was too far away. I had a wonderful experience using this storage facility. I talked to John and got a great deal that worked for me. Everyone is very friendly and the facilities are very clean.
i've been a customer at this location for more than 10 years and today I am done!!!! I will be moving out as soon as possible. Extra Space Storage has continued to raise the rate again and again and again -no flexibility and no accommodation for loyal customers. Several times I have tried calling to negotiate at least a reduction in the rate increase with no return customer service. The rate for a 10 x 10 unit has nearly doubled in four years!! Just left this facility feeling very unsafe and upset. Tracy and Karen were rude and unprofessional. Staff didnt seem interested in answering any questions, addressing where to park, or taking any care of the facility. Homeless everywhere seeming to be entering the facility and testing doors. Best to do business someplace else.
BEWARE !!! If you pre-pay they do NOT refund all of your money when you move out. I have to pay for 3 weeks when I will not be in the space. Very dishonest of them to keep your money for something you are not using and they can rent it to someone else and be charging twice for the same space.

I signed up for a unit . They advertise 1st month $1 . 12 ft sign - lg print . but when I show up it is yada-yada - only on specific units ???? small print . as others have noted - they raise their prices frequently!!! mgr should have mentioned SCAM - before I wasted my time ! oh ? they buy out the competition (life storage) . 1255 S Wabash - location .. mngr ? better off using Granma's. basement ..
This place baits and switches prices. In June 2020 I went to sign a storage unit; as the contract was being drafted the price went up within the 30mins I was there. I got a price of $180/mo for my unit to start. It is now July 2021, so within a one year time frame they've increased my price twice, first it went up to $205 and now it's $235. That's a $55/mo increase in one year meaning over 30% increase!!! If your rent was raised 30% in one year that would never fly, yet this place is getting away with it.

I rented a room for my furniture. When I arrived, I realized that the room had a big hall in the wall (big enough for a rat to go inside). I told them that I don't feel comfortable putting my furniture in that room, and I requested to get another room with the same size or two smaller rooms for same price; the company refused, and they only offered $25 credit for me to fix the wall on my own. Very bad customer service

Horrible!!!!! Nobody ever answers the phone when you call, there is not 24 gate access as stated in the contract and on the website, and homeless people urinate in front of the front door. Also, I'm pretty sure that there was a guy who lived on the first floor. I am constantly worried that my stuff is going to be stolen because the top of the storage unit is secured by chicken wire....
