Full on bait and switch. Quoted one price over the phone from corporate but when I arrived at the facility they tacked on administrative fees and required me to purchase their insurance which was 30% of the cost of my unit. The final price was almost double what I had been quoted. Really disappointing - seems like a nice, clean facility but I will take my business somewhere else.

Overpriced to start with, then they try and force you into a bigger locker than you need, and then tack on extras like insurance. Also very unfavorable lease conditions made even worse starting 9/1/15.

Andrew, insurance is required for customers who do not already have homeowners insurance to cover their belongings. We also charge a one-time administrative fee at the time of move-in. We are sorry for any inconvenience.
oh oh, Extra Space Storage jacked up my rent way up. The 3'x4' locker is now $99.48. I'm shopping around for a better deal in town. Seems as if they get you in at a very low rate. For me it started out with a teaser at $48. Six months later, the rent was doubled. Yikes!

Major Price Hikes Ever since Extra Space Storage took over StorQuest, prices have gone up and service has gone down. I chose StorQuest because I needed to keep some artwork in a climate controlled facility, as well as because of the King St. location (central) and the price. Just received notice of another price hike, which means storage costs have gone up 56% in 3 years. We work hard to ensure all of our customers have clean and secure rental spaces. Currently being charged $560 for damage to the elevators the MOVERS did. Although the movers should be our responsibility, as a storage facility that people store LARGE items in shouldnt they have a more durable elevator?? FYI dont try to keep the elevator open after it starts beeping. I knew this, but my movers insisted on forcing it to stay open ON THE TOP FLOOR WHERE WE WERE NOT!
I have had so many problems with Extra Storage since they took over the facility. The latest is that so many carts have been stolen (yes, no security) that carts are now not available except during office hours, and there are only 4 carts for the whole facility. I rent two large units for almost $800 a month, and I will absolutely be looking for storage that will accommodate the business owner and not the chronics who do whatever they want to do because of the lack of security.
Apparently Extra Space Storage just bought out Stor Quest who has done a fantastic job and been a pleasure to work with the last couple of years. My first experience has not been good with Extra Space. They deactivated my code because they didn't process my auto pay, NICE! Next they have taken the position that my old rate doesn't apply and a new rate of more than 25 % more is all they can do. NICE!
