This place is great and the staff is very friendly. They have a covered car garage to store your vehicle which was what I was looking for. The units look very clean and well kept. Will definitely do business again with them in the future.
My issue is the questionable business management practices of Extra Space Storage corporate management. They offer a very low monthly rate initially, only to double it after a few months and triple the initial introductory rate at one year. A Mainland corporate entity hoodwinking Hawaii residents, then gouging them. Staff at the facility, however, are very helpful, the location is clean and elevators provide easy access.

Office staff are helpful however the company as a whole is bad especially upper management. Units are advertised at a lower rate and guaranteed, every 4-6 months the rate goes up. In 1 year you will be paying $200 more than the advertised rate. Elevators work and don't work, and at times no elevators work and you cannot access your units. Cameron was disappointing. I have 2 storage spaces on the same floor. I was moving into my unit and just placed it open. Cameron comes by and sees us 2 doors down and starts closing the unit door. I said excuse me but that's my unit and I moving into it. He continues to close the door. I walk over and ask him why he's doing that. I said we're moving into it. He said extremely CONDESCENDINGLY. Disappointed, only recently found out that 24/7 access requires contacting the site manager when we never had to do so before. And then, staff made an error by locking our storage, which was meant for the next unit over, not ours that we pay by direct payment monthly and have been since the start when the location was Diamond Head Self Storage. Don't know what's going on. My experience with this company is going down and down.

First we discovered roaches coming down the hall from another unit. And now our stuff has MOLD! Are you kidding me!?! We pay a crap ton of money for temperature controlled storage and our stuff has mold. Absolutely unacceptable. Plus they have doubled our rates in two year! We are done. Save yourself stress and save your belongings and go somewhere else!
They will raise your rate every year. Started at $240/month for a 9x13 and now pay $340/month. The elevators frequently break and it is common to get stuck on your level for a long time while waiting for your turn on the one working elevator. In fact while I write this review I have been stuck so far on level three for 30 minutes. They only have a few carts so you may or may not get to use one. Can barely see in your unit because there isn't any lighting in the units. Oh, and they are closed on Sundays.

This place is in a horrible location, potholed roads before you even get into the drive way, druggy homeless living in their cars just steps away, and routinely flooded with salt water (from ocean backup) when it rains. Elevators are always fussy and breaking down, and time consuming to access. Definitely clean, well lit and safe inside. A/C "temperature control" is set to bare minimum, so FYI if you store temperature sensitive materials (ie. Med supplies). If I could give half a star or none, I would. This storage location is horrible. Customer service sucks. They need to take a management and customer relation class. First I called the number provided thru yelp and got transfer to a call center in the mainland automatically. After I got quoted over the phone, I went to this salt lake location to check out the space that I got quoted for. The customer representative name was 'Ed' he was ok trying to help us, it seems like the workers here don't have any authority to function ... read more
