Worst experience with extra space ever. No refunds; understandable; I'll definitely be transferring to public storage asap though.

Disappointed! We have been loyal customer to this facility for over two years. We check in regularly to ensure all is good and to access our stuff we need. We spotted feces and immediately knew they must be from rats. Naturally, we were disappointed and the usual great customer service disappeared from the staff. Our storage was full of our furniture, clothes and decor. No food or anything that would attract the vermin. Regardless of what their website says, they do NOT pro-rate you for days you don't use on your last month!! DO NOT RENT HERE UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO BE RIPPED OFF. BEWARE. I am paid through May 5th 2014, but advised them on MARCH 19th that I'd be vacating April 19th. I made my final payment on a Sunday (when they are closed) and when I finally reached someone today, I was told that because I didn't tell them on the day my payment was due (A SUNDAY - WHEN THEY WERE CLOSED) that I wouldn't be able to be refunded the bal... read more

The staff was very friendly when I moved in. It wasn't until the first billing cycle that I had a problem with them. They charged me $20 extra for insurance. I called them back and informed them that I already had insurance that covered the items and they told me I had to pay for theirs. No one ever told me that there would be an additional charge for insurance. I asked to speak to a manager and never received a phone call back. Later that month, I moved my items out. Everything is great as long as there are no problems.. our door was easily opened WITH their padlock I purchased. The on site staff is completely incompetent. I waited 4 business days for a resolution to my problem, only got one because I called 3 days in a row. The resolution was a full refund, meaning I have to search and buy a different unit in one day (because they took all week to call me back). TRIPLE EDIT: ANOTHER friggin' $10 price hike with no justification or explanation. Starting in October it will now be around $100 to rent a measly 5x7' storage space at this location; that's just ludicrous! DOUBLE EDIT: Dropping another star due to yet another $10 price hike. EDIT 5/10/12: Dropping my review to a 4/5 Stars due to a monthly $10 price hike that went into effect for all Extra Space Pleasanton customers last month.
