Just give everyone who's thinking to rent a storage unit with Extra Space a heads up. I rented 2 unit in different locations and I encountered charging issue with all of them. For this uni, the price they gave me and the price I got charged was different. So I had to call them every billing cycle to ask them to credit me back. However, for the last month of moving out, I still got incorrect charge even though I've called them to correct the rent for 5 times. They fail to mention that the price agreed to in your contract is subject to a "rent increase" after 5 months. Had a nice 20% increase with no warning this month. Wish this was told to me before I started renting a unit from here.

Extra Space Storage claims "State-of-the-art security" on their web site. This is total BS. First off they only have 3 cameras to cover nearly 1000 units. Next they sell locks which when you go to Youtube to can see how to break into them in 3 seconds. I tried it and did it in 2 seconds. In addition after office hours, by the managers admission, they do not monitor people which follow space renters in or out. I know this because I had my unit broken into and lost $32k in possessions. Misleading The price advertised online is quickly subject to a "rent increase", and also not available to people who already have units. I don't think this is good business practice and will be taking my business elsewhere.

There is a bathroom onsite, I tried to use it, but it was full. I waited, and waited. Urine was trickling in my underwear. It was an emergency, and I needed to relieve myself around back ya know. The manager became enraged and threw me out! What a bunch of jerks! They need better customer service, common courteousness skills, and more bathrooms.

Store Manager, Neal Gallegos, such a jerk! Terrible, terrible customer service! I moved out of my storage and had gotten charged for the next month already. He said there was nothing he could do. He said he can submit a request to the corporate office, but he doesn't think they will give me a refund. (He said it like he is not really going to do that for me) I don't want to pay for a whole month for an empty storage! Reserved a unit for one month free and there was nothing in the terms and conditions that said you couldn't stay for only one month. Got to the place and the manager says you have to rent it for at least two months. Deceptive - taking our business elsewhere.

Bad customer service! Rude office staff. Reserved a unit, no one called me ahead of time to inform that particular row of units will not be available due to cementing pavements. So I was given a bigger unit to move into for higher price !! Wtf! Bad business , bad customer service ! Very inconvenient! I Would NOT recommend this place to anyone !

They raise the rent about 10-15% every 6 months or so. Rent went from $79/month to $129/month in just two years. Beware the "special intro pricing" bait! Pretty ridiculous rate inflation and overpriced for what you get...
