Alot wrong with this company. Start off with the price of units don't match advertised price and even raise price very often. Second they get into units and move stuff. Lastly in worst case scenario they don't properly notify "tenant" of unit auction and people losing their stuff.

I rented the unit in October 2022 and my rent was ****** plus insurance which made it ****** plus change, not once was I told they could increase the rent. On January 30, 2023, I received a text message stating my rent was ******, I was burying my sister that day, so I called the next week to see what was going on, I was told since I was month to month they could increase my rent. After luring me to move in with a price of 1st unit of $166 dollars and 2nd unit for $266 dollars and keeping my CC on file, not only they forced me to buy an insurance by claiming it wad mandated by law, but I found that they were fraudulently charging me 150 dollars extra each month without my knowledge or permission. When I contacted the headquarters, the rep was extremely rude and offensive and his reply was (well if you didn't notice that we were overcharging you, then who's fault is it) ????. They just don't stop raising the rent. I've had a until for 3 years and it keeps going up. It went up 3 times in 2020-21 alone during the pandemic.

Lack of security at ******************************* Many tenants being stolen from. I lost most of my possessions recently. Extra Space Storage at said location about to receive negative publicity in local media.

We rented a 10 x 20 unit and after 4 hours and 5 people working filled it to 80% capacity on a Thursday. On Saturaday we go back with a few more items we had left to move and the roll up/down breaks and would not close. I went get the manager and he's like yeah its broke. So me and one friend have to move entire unit's contents down the hall by ourselves which took forever. Then it made me late to return the ***** truck which costs me another $100 more! im a appalled . they raised my fee without notice, and then when I went online saw that they were charging me 195 a month but online it was 55 a month? When I called to complain and said that they were scamming me I was SCREAMED at by a new manager who said he was brought in bc the location was having complaints. No kidding ...so poorly run and robbery! Then he told me he was not able to honor the rate but oh wait a minute ...he could but I had to move units...1 unit down bc he was unable to change my rate without me moving ... read more

In Dec 2022, Life Storage acquired a property from ***** ******* **** 5500 FT. Rd. Chantilly, VA 20121. Both companies stop sending TEXT which is what most customers like me rely on. On January 01, 2023, I couldn’t pay EXTRA STORAGE online. EXTRA STORAGE failed to send the regular notification to pay via text, failed to post an announcement on their website of the change of ownership, and most customer couldn't make the payment online on January 01, 2023 or after. I would like to give Life Storage a 0 because half of my unit has been cleaned out! I recommend u never get a storage unit unless u can use ur own lock!!!
