Not the worse but not the best. We ordered the platter for two, we ordered the ribs, wings, brisket and pork belly as the meats..I couldn't really tell the difference between the pork belly and brisket(brisket coloration seemed a bit off) both were extremely fatty with no flavor. The star of the show were the wings, ribs and of course the tasty barbecue sauces. As far as the sides I wasn't impressed at all. The Mac and cheese was ok I probably wouldn't order it again but we also had the potato salad and baked beans. I wasn't t... read more

Wasn't impressed with anything. The fatty brisket and rib tips were okay, but not very flavorful and wouldnt make me want to come back. The sausage was fine but not great, and the lean brisket was so incredibly dry. Was surprisingly disappointed by the sides. The brussels sprouts were soggy, bread was soggy. Mac n cheese was not good, lacked flavor / spices and was too cheesy with clumps of cheese instead of a cohesive creamy cheese sauce. Potato salad and the green beans were okay.

This has been on my list for as long as I can remember it felt so good to finally cross this one off the saved list. Fed Pig is as elite as it gets I got half rib half smoked chicken wings and it was stupendous! The meat tender and cooked to perfection. While you're there make sure you get some of that vinegar based bbq sauce to throw in them ribs. The brussel sprouts were fire they are always my go to side dish. Can't wait to come back and knockdown that brisket! Till then forks up!

Overall: Excellent food that won't disappoint in your search for authentic southern cuisine. If you are a local, you probably tried it, but if you are visiting and are interested in trying BBQ, I recommend this as your first (and maybe only) stop. Tastiness: Out of this world deliciousness. There is so much variety of meats and sandwiches and sides to choose from, there are even mains and sides that a vegan would enjoy. I think the restaurant has evolved to keep all happy and satisfied. Presentation: The Adams Morgan locat... read more

Don't let the pictures fool you. This place was not good at all. 1. The sides were cold - Mash potatoes 2. Meat portion was super small and even worse, the meat was cold and had zero flavor. - seems as if this place microwaves everything. I paid $28 for a 2 meat combo and was very disappointed. Left and had to eat somewhere else.

Business response:

Hello Jordan, we do not microwave anything and we encourage guests dining in to speak with us if their meal is not up to par. Please contact us at info@federalistpig.com so discuss your experience.

Atmosphere 4 out of 5: Enjoyed the music, spacious, clean restrooms. The Food 3 out of 5: We ordered two "Pitmaster Special for two". Brisket, Rib tip, Spare rib, Pork belly, chicken wings. There were too many strong flavors fighting in our pallets .. The seasoning were all over powering. Its like having "Indian spices" all poured into the meat before smoking it. All the sauces, were tangy, and the containers looked unsanitary. The Brussel sprouts were too burnt. The mac & cheese were too soggy. The bread had a hint o... read more
