I tried Federalist Pig during their happy hour, and the deals were good but the food sadly wasn't. Maybe my standards are too high from living in Texas, but this was some of the saddest, driest pulled pork I've had. Where was the flavor? I had the loaded fries, and the fries were burnt (literally, I was tasting ash from the charred ends instead of potato), the cheese had cooled into an unpleasant skin on the top even though it was supposedly made to order, and even the sauces weren't up to BBQ standards (very watery). You ca... read more

Hello Lauren, we appreciate your feedback and we always encourage guests to speak with us in the restaurant if something is not up to par. That empanada certainly looks light on oxtail. It would be great if we could speak with you about this. Please contact us at info@federalistpig.com.
If you are in DC or anyplace close and want some unforgettable BBQ, then this is your place. The menu has something for every barbecue lover. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We were a party of three. Everyone got a different sandwich. We also got the Mac&Cheese, loaded fries(OMG sooooo good) and the chips and queso. The sandwiches are huge and full of whatever meat you order. They have six different sauces to add if you like. The flavor and taste are unbelievable. As far as the sides are concerned one is better than t... read more
I was craving bbq and I decided to stop by the federalist pie and it was the only place that was open and nearby at the time. I opted for their Dino rib entree with their baked beans and crispy brussel sprouts as my sides. The rib was enormous and definitely enough for two high schoolers or one greedy person. However, outside of its massive size it was pretty average to me. Yes, it was tender, however as soon as I picked it up from the counter and portioned out some accompanying sauces when I sat down inside to eat, the rib ... read more

Hello Tra, We appreciate the helpful feedback. Please contact us at info@federalistpig.com so we can discuss.
Food is phenomenal. However, my review is based on the customer service. First time I went, I was paying for dinner and my friend, who ordered only a sandwich, was asked to confirm what meat she wanted on her sandwich and her side. Got our food and turns out they charged us for a separate meat and side. I didn't think anything of it and decided to eat the extra food as leftovers. Fast forward to tonight and they did the same thing. Someone in front of me paid in cash and the cashier still was putting cash away. I tried to gi... read more

This is the best barbecue I've had in DC so far. The two step combo platter is plenty for two people. My wife and I each got one and had leftovers for a few days. The brisket was the best I've had and the pulled pork shoulder and ribs are good as well. What sets Federalist Pig apart from other DC joints is their sides aren't an afterthought. The crispy brussels sprouts and BBQ beans are very good. The mac and cheese is a little loose for my liking, but certainly not the worst I've had. The pickles and onion slaw incl... read more
Federalist Pig is one of the better BBQ spots in the DC area. I went recently with a big group of friends for lunch. They have large wooden benches to accommodate groups but it's not the most comfortable. Service was quick, everyone had their food within 20 mins for 10 people. I tried their 1/3 ib Brisket and Pulled Pork sandwich. They were delicious. They have six different bbq sauces to add to your food, but the sauce is a watery textured which I didn't like. For the sides, I enjoyed eating the BBQ beans. It's spicy and h... read more

Hello Clifton, we are glad that you enjoyed the sandwich and BBQ beans. We appreciate your feedback about the sauce and potato salad. It sounds like you had the Carolina Vinegar sauce which is common to have a watery texture.
I didn't realize Federalist Pig actually had a vegetarian option. This was out of this world. Definitely one of the best meals out we have had in a while.
Really good food! Had the club, amazing! Pit master for two was a lot of food, nice selection. Causual dinning for after the zoo.
Oh my goodness!! Saw this place on yelp, decided to try it. Does NOT disappoint!! Got the sampler platter. You pick 3 meats and 2 sides. We got brisket, chicken, and ribs with the side of fries and crispy Brussels sprouts. It was Devine. Brisket soft and tender so juicy. Sprouts nice and crispy crunchy. Fries oh so good!! BBQ chicken juicy and so tasty. Ribs yum!!! I say run don't walk here.
