The wife and I finally got out to check out Federalist Pig (FedPig), because we have heard great things about it. We both are from Central VA and grew up on Carolina BBQ, so we both know how hard it is to find great BBQ in NOVA...and it's HARD lol. TLDR: FedPig is the best BBQ spot we have been to in NOVA so far, although it's not at our extremely high bar of BBQ standards set by places in North Carolina & Southern VA. It's certainly worth a visit. As always when I go to a BBQ joint for the first time, I'm always going to ... read more
Best BBQ I've ever had. We ordered the feed the fam with the brisket burnt ends, wings, ribs and pulled pork. We were in town from Miami and now that we are back home we can't stop thinking about that brisket. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Staff is so helpful and it's a perfect place to share a meal with family.
i dont know why people say it's the best they ever had. maybe it is. but certainly not THE best. just wished it wasn't hyped up so much, otherwise i'd give it 5/5. it's pretty decent. sauces are a bit watery. their carolina sauce doesn't have much flavor (think watered down a bit). the meat seems kinda standard, not really fall off the bone. definitely worth a trip if you are in the area but i wouldn't go out of the way in case you think you're missing out on something special. it didn't taste bad either. overall okay/good. ... read more
Ambiance is nice, love the open space with backyard bbq style seating. Rib tips were Amazinggggg, while Mac and cheese for me underwhelming! Brussels were definitely more yummy as leftovers :) with my leftover 2 ribs tips lol. Service was great, will go back again
The pork rib tips, pulled pork, brisket, pork shoulder and pork belly was outstanding . I did an Uber eats for a family gathering and everything arrived individually package and pretty much still hot.
Didn't know dc had this type of bbq. We ordered the brisket, pulled pork, burnt tips, beans and mac&cheese. I would have gone for seconds if I could. Place was clean, and staff was super friendly.
I was craving some bbq and this place had some of the best reviews in the area so I decided to give it a try. I'm originally from Arkansas and we have some of the best bbq in the country so I wasn't expecting the "best bbq" but as long as it was good, I would be happy. Luckily, this place met my expectations. Let's start with the customer service. The manager took my order and recommended the burnt ends and brisket for my 2 meats after I asked a few questions. I also ordered Mac and cheese and bbq beans as my sides, all to... read more
Pretty good barbecue at a really good price. This isn't Texas barbecue, but it's some of the best I've had in the northeastern United States. I personally got a sampler of the ribs, brisket, smoked wings, and sausage. For my sides I had gotten Mac & cheese as well as the baked beans, both of which were fantastic. The Federalist Pig definitely has my stamp of approval and it's a definite stop in DC's diverse food scene.
Highly recommended! Manager was super to us on our visit making some recommendations that were phenomenal! Food was absolutely delicious and our party hade a large variety: brisket (sliced, moist), burnt ends, pulled pork, turkey, roasted brussel sprouts, garlic parm broccoli...Everything was 5 Star!! We only wish we didn't live 300 miles away but we WILL be back!!
