Boarded my cat there for a week - my usual place was booked up. I asked to see the cat 'condo' it was small maybe 18" high x3' wide x 2' deep or so - and it was in a back room with no exercise area. You have to pay extra each time for them to let the cat out to 'play' (you can dictate once or twice a day. My cat usually comes back from boarding fat, happy and spoiled. He was not this time!
Business response:
I'm sorry you were not pleased with our boarding area for cats. We want all our patients to have a pleasant experience. With that being said, we are a veterinary hospital not a boarding/spa facility. We wish we had the means for a romper room type area for our cats; however we feel we offer adequate housing with our cat condos, and if we are not completely full, we will open up a second condo for the cat to have even more area at no extra charge. We take pride in being able to provide this service for our clients and give th... read more
This place tends to overcharge quite often. Don't take your pet in here. Any emergency will charge hundreds of dollars for any service whatsoever. Brought my pet in for some stitches and the bill was over $400. A lot of vets in the area so look around before coming here.
Business response:
It is our office policy that no procedures are done on any animal without an estimate first being presented and approved by their owners, so there should not have been any bill that was not previously approved by you. Unfortunately we cannot find you in our client data base, so I don't know which pet we are referring to here. Please call and let us know how we can serve you better.
The boarding facility and staff is the worst I've ever encountered! We were told a current fecal sample was a condition of boarding as well as current vaccinations. Since we didn't have fecal tests they said that they would get samples and send to the lab and get results the same day as our three dogs arrived...also for an extra fee of $28 per dog! The staff explained how crucial this test is to the health of every dog...so we agreed to the additional charge. We were told that until the results are back our dogs would be... read more
Business response:
We're so sorry you had a negative experience during your pet's stay. As an active veterinary hospital we must maintain the highest standards of cleanliness in common areas. For the safety and comfort of all of our boarders we require fecal tests to ensure our boarding facility remains clean and free from any infectious agents. These are sent to an outside laboratory and ideally results are received by the next business day, although sometimes results can take longer over the weekend and during holidays. It is also an optiona... read more
I brought my pet dog in for boarding. When I picked him up he was not the same. He was perfect when I dropped him off. When I got him back he could barely walk. He was just 9 yrs old and passed away within 90 days I will never take a beloved pet back. Larry R
Business response:
We're sorry for the loss of your beloved companion. Unfortunately, your pet had a previously diagnosed brain tumor which progressed rapidly. We are thinking of you in your time of grieving and wish you the best for the future. Thank you for your feedback.
WARNING....This place will take your money without asking. I agree with the reviews by Erin D and Danny S relative to expenses. Something bad happens when the competing interests of profit and medicine cross. At Goldorado, profit is number one. My dog and I walked in for a $36 followup visit and walked out with a $300 plus bill and a bottle of over priced antibiotics. $100 for a bottle of 20 tabs? I could have bought the same thing on-line for under $30. And after authorizing "an x-ray" they took two x-rays...big buck... read more

Aaron T. failed to mention in his review that in January of 2006, his dog "Kia" was hit by a car and suffered an extensive injury to her knee. The attachment of her knee cap was sheared off and Dr. Barnes had to rebuild the knee. She has done very well over the last six years. However, she recently developed some drainage at the old injury site. Dr. Barnes was concerned that her body may be rejecting the implant material or it had become infected. "Kia" was put on some strong antibiotics. The drainage did stop while sh... read more
I would NEVER recommend this vet to anyone. I took my cat in because she had been acting different. After $400 worth of tests, it came back she has diabetes. When i got there to discuss options they had another $279 bill printed out just to get her started on meds. Then in 10 days another $122 for tests. I can not afford those kinds of bills. That's more than my rent! After much discussion the doctor said there was no alternative and in another 2-3 months I would have to fork over another $125 for insulin. Needless t... read more
Business response:
After we called Erin to explain that her cat "Blue" had diabetes, we asked that she come in for a consult to discuss treatment. We tried to explain the commitment in time and cost that would be involved in treating a chronic disease like diabetes. It requires a number of weekly visits with many blood samples to regulate a diabetic pet. We like to let pet owners in this situation know up front the costs that will be involved in treating diabetes so that they will not be surprised later and then have to stop treatment. WARNING PET OWNERS: DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE, PERIOD. ANIMAL ABUSE COMMITTED AT THIS HOSPITAL If you love your pet and care for its well-being, keep them as far away from these people as possible. Take it from myself and Missy B. this animal hospital has the most terrible staff imaginable. Our family took our french bulldog for their grooming services and he came out in terrible shape. As far as their services, they did what they promised: gave him a bath and clipped his nails. We waited over 2 hours for them to no... read more
DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TAKE YOUR ANIMAL TO THIS VET. My 1 year old dog had all the clinical signs of pyometria, so we immediately took her to the vet as this is a LIFE THREATENING condition. I guess our mistake was taking her in at 3pm, when Dr. Barnes was going on vacation the next day. He took an hour to get blood results, then said her condition was not critical and could wait 5 days until he returned. He literally said, "I don't want to stay late". He sent us home with antibiotics and she stayed up all night ... read more
