bad experience and unprofessional. NEED to select the doctor who is professional and helpful.
I initially gave Gotham Vet two stars recently after my first visit there primarily because my cats had to wait about 40 minutes before being seen and because the front desk staff didn't even ask me to fill out any paperwork, unaware that it was my first time there (among other things), even though they were certainly nice enough. I thought Dr. Christine Carbonell was very nice, too. However, now that I finally took my cats somewhere else since Gotham Vet couldn't bring two of my three cats in for a cleaning and extraction... read more
I have had two majorly negative experiences with Gotham Vet. The first, my puppy terrier had a congenital teeth problem and they were going to have a vet tech perform invasive oral surgery on him. I went with my gut and got a second opinion from a top rated vet who said that is almost unheard of and totally inappropriate to have a vet tech (who maybe be specialized) perform a teeth removal surgery, I ended up going to a canine dentist at 5th ave vet who did an amazing job. The second and most recent incident was after my sam... read more
My experience was horrible. I took my 2 week old pup because she wasn't breathing through her nose and they charged me over $100. All they did was hear her breathing, they told me she had a lot of mucus build up which I already knew, I was trying to suction it out before I got there. They also told me her sugar was high which helped me in no way. All of this was done while I was sitting in the waiting room, they didn't even get me a room. My puppy Shorty died this morning. They did nothing for me. Will never go back there ag... read more
A friend recommend this place to me. The first visit was fine but cost way more than they said on the phone. The staff was rude and I felt rushed and like they don't care. My dog was sick and they wanted to charge 5 grand to help his leg and said there were no other options. Horrible place. AVOID!
I have taken my dog several times over the course of two years to get medication refills and for general check ups. They seem to be lost in that office. They made me go every month instead of giving me 3 month supplies and constantly running unnecessary test and charging for Dr visits and both Drs spent 1 min looking at my dog - what!!! you are going to tell me that you examined my dog in a coupe of mins? It's a rip off!! They just want to charge you for visits without doing any work or providing any help. Also, they misdiag... read more
In early 2012 I won a court case I had brought against Kimberly Kahn, a vet at Gotham Veterinary Center in NYC (owned by Bonnie Brown). In 2011, Kimberly Kahn's gross negligence almost killed my beloved dog, and her life was saved by a wonderful vet at the ASPCA, who, by the way, was my expert witness in the case against Kimberly Kahn. Please know that justice was served when the judge ruled in my favor. Kimberly Kahn almost killed my dog by administering over a period of time, what was becoming a lethal dose of medicatio... read more
Although caring vets, they're extremely money hungry. After having to go back countless times over a few months time follow up visits they still insisted on charging for a regular visit as opposed to a follow up. This was for the same issue that was not yet resolved. Have some freakin compassion and give me a 15 dollar break after spending thousands and being a loyal patron. I also had a similar issue with over charging me for a medication. In a month's time the price had increased three fold and when I questioned it I got a... read more
As much as I wanted to like her, I was pretty much done with Bonnie at Gotham after leaving there a number of times feeling small, and after a Giardia issue was handled quite effortlessly by Cathedral Dog and Cat Hospital (after 3 Giardia tests and 4 changes of food with Gotham) .... BUT .... my dog needed to be neutered and Bonnie knew him best, so I gave in. I dropped him off and signed a waiver saying the procedure and possible complications had been explained to me. They hadn't, so I waited until they were. My inquiries... read more
