PLEASE READ THIS. Do not be fooled by any reviews about Gotham. The people at the desk are wonderful but that's where it ends. None of the doctors have a clue as to what they are doing and largely remain on costly diagnostics to try and find out what is wrong with your pet. I have had one bad experience after another and it has cost me hundreds of dollars. The office manager never even had the courtesy to call me back when I called to try and discuss my problem with him. Awful place. Don't bring your pet. My cat has ... read more
I got sucked in by the good reviews which are mainly for dr brown but when i tried to get her for my new puppy two years ago i was told she was no longer taking new patients. the people we have seen have been a rotating stable of different vets but none more unprofessional than the one we just had: dr kovach. my husband took our dog to see her and i had a follow up question about her plan for treating him so i called. was told she would get back to us within an hour. NOTHING. then i called again. was told it would be an... read more
Business response:
Hi, Lee. We very sorry to hear that you feel this way. After speaking to Dr. Kovach, we feel that there might have been some confusion, as this information appears to contradict what we have on file. We pride ourselves on quality veterinary care and work hard to ensure the health and happiness of pets and owners alike. Your pet's well being is our main concern and we hope that Bilbo feels better soon.
Bear with me, this review will be long and VERY detailed. Long story short: Don't go here. Take your time to read the reviews all the way to the bottom, you'll be surprised. Let me start with some background story about me and my dog, Nina: We very recently moved from Buenos Aires to NYC. We had an amazing vet back home and, stupid me, I thought that was common practice. If you want to know exactly what happened, please, read on: Nina is a rescue. She's the sweetest dog on Earth. When we first got her she was the scaredes... read more
Business response:
Daniela - Thank you so much for taking the time to post your review. We are deeply sorry to hear that you had a negative experience at Gotham Veterinary Center. We are trying to get to the bottom of this issue. Your veterinarian and our reception desk recall that a male owner was here with Nina on the day that a staff member was bitten. The doctor and tech were not informed that Nina was previously aggressive towards men. Although she might not have been aggressive recently, new environments can be stressful for dogs. The ... read more
Just got off the phone with Gotham and they told me their records were wrong and that they hadn't given my cat his rabies vaccine. The one they were supposed to have given him SIX MONTHS AGO! Their negligence put my cat and others at risk! Additionally, they never gave me the results of his second giardia test. Now I question everything they've done, or lied and said they did. Bumbling and Fraudulent come to mind. And I would never have known had I not called them requesting my cat's records be transferred to another vet... read more
Got my kitten spayed here and was unpleasantly surprised to find out after the fact that they use old-school stitches instead of the dissolvable kind -- I didn't even think to ask because I assumed most modern vets would use dissolving sutures, but I wasn't given the option. They said to leave the e-collar on for a week and to come back in 10-14 days to get stitches removed. I left the cone on for a full week and tried to keep her from picking at her stitches (with limited success) for the following days. When I brought h... read more
Business response:
Good afternoon, Laura. Thank you so much for taking the time to give us your feedback. Skin sutures (or non-dissolving stitches) are a common use in veterinary practices. Doctors choose the stitches they prefer for the procedure, and often go with what they used most in their training. They are no less safe than dissolvable stitches. Both types of stitches require an e-collar and a follow-up visit with your vet 10-14 days after the operation. When an animal is healing, the incision is itchy, and the animal's instinct is ... read more
Switching vets.I called regarding getting dog in for neutering, no call back. I asked for records to be transferred and no interest in why I was leaving the practice, indifferent staff. Dr Brown is great-She needs to surround herself with equally gifted staff-It matters.
Unfortunately, my experience has been similar to Christine A. and Kova J. The office staff is disinterest, and dysfunctional with attitude. Dr. Brown is terrific if you can manage to get through to the front desk to make an appointment with her. 'Call backs' for appointments are not returned and too often nobody bothers to answer the phone at all. You are forced to sit through laborious voice messages. I brought my dog in and he could not be seen for several hours but I wanted them to start an IV as he had not been drinkin... read more
Coming from a place like Westside Vet, I have been very disappointed and unimpressed with Gotham Vet. I really wanted to like it because it is so close to my apartment but I have been disappointed the 4 times I have taken my dog here. Most of my complaint is with reception desk/service level. I have left multiple messages to schedule appointments and have never received a call back. It is only if I get through to the reception desk that I am able to make an appointment. Their online reservation system is pointless as no one ... read more
I found Dr Lippman to be very caring and seemed to genuinely want to help my cat. Unfortunately I found the front desk staff, particularly George to be unprofessional and insensitive. He and another staff member chatted each other up and joked while I waited. When I asked him to explain why the bill was more than I expected he was curt. He just read off what was billed and said "sorry." He didn't even say I hope your cat feels better or please give us a call if you are still concerned-nothing. He made a phone call to the bac... read more
