I have several complaints about RPA. I suggest that people considering renewable energy look elsewhere. I spoke with two RPA reps in Chicago who told me that I could get 100% renewable energy at a rate competitive with ComEd and that they would give me headphones if I agreed to a follow-up phone call with a phone number from New York to sign up for the service. I have first hand experienced the scam that is addressed here. My elderly mother got scammed and RPA fraudulently informed PPL that she had agreed. Total scam artist. 2 1/2 times the going rate. They prey on the elderly.

They claim to be a cheaper solution to power and gas but that is not true. My mom believed what they were saying and switched power company's over to them. When my mom died we were able to gain access to that account and found out that they are charging my parents double per kilowatt hour then what the main power company charges and are getting the power from the main company its self. A person came door-to-door changing ComEd Chicago energy suppliers to RPA. That in itself is not a big deal; I don't have much interest in who the supplier is really, and if someone wants my business that much, fine. While the person answered all my questions and more or less explained the "supply" and "deliver" bit (the ComEd site does a much better job), she neglected to mention the $5/month service charge RPA adds. Beware: Expert slammers! Table set up in front of State of Illinois Building (Chicago) with reps offering "information" about 100% renewable energy. I asked for a brochure. They didn't have one. I gave my contact info so they could send me one to read. Sales guy said someone would call the next day to answer any questions. No one called. A week later I got a notice from Com Ed that I had been switched to RPA. I did NOT authorize any change! SCAM!!!! This company has a table in front of Northwestern University, giving away free gifts to talk to ComEd customers. After taking a photo of you license "to confirm your ComEd account". You sign the iPad to confirm you received the free gift. 2 minutes later I received a text with a service contract stating that I switched services to RPA; using the signature captured from the iPad.
