Bad print quality from out of the box This is just the latest Brother laser printer I've bought for my business. Generally they work ok but this one has exhibited printing problems since first use. Defective After a little more than 12 months, this printer simply stopped working. The error button lights up red and gives you no option to clear or fix or diagnose the problem.
Does not include cord for plug in WHAAAAT?? Wait! The printer did not arrive with a cord. I had to buy a cord to even get the primer plugged in.
Prints 'dirty' Bought in June 2018 and paid to have it set up; it printed dirty. Had a new one shipped Sept., but had to pay to set up again and did not do until March. This one also prints 'dirty'.
Broken Too short of a window for return. I buy these for our office and keep a back up. When I opened this latest one the back was broken and didn't work but I had no recourse. Won't buy them again.
Waste of money I bought this printer to replace another Brother that was leaving toner on my pages. Brand new, out of the box, the quality is the same or worse than the unit I replaced. Yes, I've cleaned it. It helps for 1-2 prints then goes back to toner everywhere. As others have mentioned, replacing a brand new drum unit with another one is a) more than the cost of the printer, and b) a crap shoot if there's no guarantee it will make any difference. Avoid this one.
Replace Drum after 900 pages??? I only used paper in new reams from Sams Club. After 500 pages kept leaving marks on the printed pages. Support had me clean the drum. Didn't resolve the issue and was told I need a new drum, not under warranty. I was told I used in-appropriate print material. No problems with my Cannon Printers and the same paper. Rather than buy a new drum I bought a Cannon.
manual sheet feeder constantly jams I use the manual sheet feeder very often and it constantly jams on the 1st page feed. Probably about 90% of the time it jams.
Not so good with toner sprayed all over the page. I like the speed of this printer. I like the looks and practical use of this printer. But it sprays toner all over the first page. I usually only print one page at a time, and hence every copy is hideous and hard to read. You might look elsewhere, but good luck on that as most reviewers report the same kind of problems on all of these printers.
