Get directionsThe activities sound like they’re really good. I’d give the food a 3. For one thing there’s too much salt. When you have heart trouble that’s not good. The food doesn’t match the menu. They’re pretty at looking after you.
After my Mom was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia, we were looking for a place that could meet her needs and allow her to maximize her time with quality care and activities. Emeritus Memory Care was a great fit. It took a bit of time for the care givers to get to know Mom and for Mom to trust them, but after the initial adjustment, the care givers and nursing staff were great. They were kind, caring, and shared a great sense of humor during the time we were there. Mom improved under their care as she became familiar with th... read more
This is a nice community, it's a very pretty place, and the staff are friendly and caring. One issue my loved one had a lot of complaints about was the assigned seating for meals, she'd rather be free to pick who she sits with, and the way it worked out for her initially was she ended up at a rather empty table. Not long after moving in a situation arose where my loved one needed to go to the hospital, and we are not pleased with the price we are having to pay to keep her room reserved while she is not there, but we really h... read more
Based on the recommendations from "A Place for Mom", my mother and I visited 5 assisted living communities in the Kingwood area. Some were very busy, others were more like a hospital, still others felt like a hotel but none felt "just right"...that is until we visited Emeritus at Kingwood. From the second we stepped in the door, the staff was very warm and welcoming. The facility itself is gorgeous and it reminded us of a hunting lodge with plenty of living rooms and fireplaces to read a good book and stay warm and cozy. Bei... read more
My dad has only been there a short time but so far, it seems to be good. He came from another place that was more assisted livng/skilled nursing and Emeritus is more of just an assisted living so the care is a little bit different but we're paying the same amount. I think overall, they're really trying and they really seem to care about the people that live there.
Ann Marie was amazing. She was able to answer all our questions and address our concerns about the move for Mom. I believe the staff and facility will be perfect for Mom.
Mom had adapted well to assisted living at Landon Ridge. Residents and Staff have been very welcoming and helpful I rated Care a 2 because the nurses are not that attentive. They do make sure the residents get their medications but that's about it. We pay for shower assistance but no one ever shows up on time. Thankfully my Mom can do it herself.
There has been a lot of turnover of staff members which leads to the food not being as good as it should, the medical attention not being as good as it should be, etc. They say they have a chef on staff, but the food that they are serving is not for seniors, it is a lot of frozen and fried foods which are not good for dietary restrictions.
The medication distribution needs to be closely monitored. If your loved one is a falling risk make sure to keep a close on that also. The response time for a fall was over 4 hours and the emergency pull did not work. I would not recommend this community to others.
