Steve showed on a Friday for the estimate and guessed $6,000 - $7,000 to fix major areas of the roof. He mentioned it was going to take a long time and lots of money for this job. Then he said he would be back Monday to properly measure up and finalize a firm estimate. I have NOT SEEN HIM SINCE! Of course, I had other estimates and Steve's were disproportionately higher than the others to the tune of 10 TIMES HIGHER!!! It went well, using a DIFFERENT contractor! They may do fine work, but they never had the chance here because their estimator submitted a bid that was, literally, 10 TIMES HIGHER than several of their competitors. To fix a minor leak, they proposed completely rebuilding half my roof at over $7000. I ended up paying less than $500 for a successful repair, tested by a heavy rainstorm a few days after completion.

The salesman started off with an obviously rehearsed speech about how this was the best company he's ever worked for and how honest they are, what great quality of work etc. None of it was believable; Paris Hilton is a better actor. Then he said that he could tell I wanted to get to work so he'd get right to the point and proceeded to tell me about how the company is endorsed by some radio program. Who cares? Our 11 year old tile roof was leaking in 3 places. Due to poor workmanship by the previous roofer, and to the tiles being no longer available, we had to replace the entire roof. Lyons workers discovered the original 30 year old underlayment had been left on 11 years ago by another company, who had replaced the roof due to storm damage while we were assigned to Vance AFB, OK. OFFICE STAFF WAS GOOD ON KEEPING US UPDATED ON WHEN JOB WOULD START, BUT ONCE JOB WAS STARTED, WE WERE UNHAPPY. WERE TOLD THAT WE'D KNOW ROOFERS WERE LYONS EMPLOYEES, TRAINED BY LYONS, BECAUSE THE WOULD WEAR LYONS T-SHIRTS. THE GUYS WHO WORKED ON OUR ROOF LOOKED LIKE DAY-LABORERS. WE RARELY SAW SUPERVISOR TYPES ON OUR PROPERTY. WE HAD TO CALL SEVERAL TIMES TO GET LITTER PICKED UP AND/OR HAULED OFF. AFTER FINAL CLEAN UP, STILL FOUND TWO NAILS IN DRIVEWAY. LYONS ROOFING RESPONDED TO MY REQUEST FOR AN ESTIMATE IN A TIMELY FASHION AND DID THE WORK THEY SAID THEY WOULD. THEIR WORK HAS A LIMITED 5 YEAR WARRANTY. LYONS ROOFING IS A 'ROSIE ON THE HOUSE' CONTRACTOR. REMOVED AND STACKED EXISTING ROOFING TILE ON 700 SQ. FT. OF LEAKING ROOF. INSTALLED NEW METAL FLASHINGS AND NEW LEAD ROOF JACKS. INSTALLED NEW UNDERLAYMENTS, BATTENS AND RE-INSTALLED ALL EXISTING TILES. PAINTED FLASHING TO MATCH HOUSE.
