The initial estimate from the salesman seemed extremely low at about $3,700 given what we thought had to be done. When the actual roofers came, they confimed that the deck had to be pretty much totally torn down to the rafters and replaced before the Pli-Deck system could be installed. It went from a 2-3 day job to a 7 day job. The additional cost was another $2,000. Since I thought the original estimate was low, I was not surprised by the new cost. The tear-down effort was extremely difficult, and it took the workers two fu... read more

Business response:

Thank you for your feedback. I am thrilled that the project turned out so well. The employees you list- no surprises. They are golden. My apologies for the change in scope- our approach is always to favor the scope that is the least expensive to start, and yes sometimes things get revealed that change the course. Respectfully, Ann Pepper Director of Business Development apepper@lyonsroofing.com

"How did it go?" asks Angie's List. Well... where do I begin? First, it's worth mentioning that we moved into a "fixer upper" in Alhambra, one needing a new roof for the main part of the house, and also a new, smaller roof for the porch and back addition to the house. For our main roof, we used Monarch Roofing (see my review here on Angie's List for them and their work). This review is for a much smaller job, for just a portion of the house. I consider myself a pretty patient person, and I used to work also as a crew leader ... read more

Business response:

Dear homeowner, I am sorry that this experience did not unfold as anticipated. I also am confused as to the communication regarding the use of EC-100. It is the product we use exclusively on all residential applications. Pro tech is a highly regarded company, locally based, that we have been trade partners with for several years. Their product line is our go to of choice. If you need any additional documentation, perhaps from Protech directly, to put you at ease regarding both manufacturer and workmanship warranties, I would... read more

When they came to do the work it started raining so they said that they will come back another time but they never came back. They said that the service was for free. I am really not happy with them. Lyons Roofing came out five or six weeks ago to do a roofing inspection.

Business response:

Dear homeowner, I will investigate this situation further-I know Tucson has had some intense storms this monsoon season. No excuses however. My lingering question is whether or not you are still seeking that gratis inspection? Please advise. Ann Pepper Director of Business Development apepper@lyonsroofing.com

We have a big roofing job, but would never entrust our home to a company that appears careless. They must be very busy and clearly too busy to do our job. Lyons did not return my call to schedule an estimate. Spoke with a lady who said the scheduler for our area would call back. We have received no call to date.

Business response:

My apologies that we were unable to respond to you request. We consider every phone call, every customer, the life blood of this organization. I remain a bit confused as we have only 1 scheduler and no record that you have called our organization. Our standard of service is that a record is created for each call received. During the most recent rains- our answering service handled the overflow calls... I have to wonder if we never received your message? Sounds like excuses and I never make excuses for our errors, bottom line... read more

Sales: Lou Ann was awesome! We actually got two lower quotes, but the fact that she was so detailed with what Lyons would be doing, took the time to lift a large number of tiles on the problem areas that were causing us concern and showed us pictures, offered us several options along with payment options, I thought she did a top notch job and we felt the higher quote would be worth the extra money. The only issue we had with Lou Ann came long after the job started. Lou Ann explained that of the 5%-10% of the tiles that would ... read more

Business response:

Thank you for taking the time to allow us to identify opportunities to improve our process. My sincere apologies for the issues that have made this less than an ideal re-roofing process. I have escalated this case to the owners of the company and rest assured you will be contacted directly to assess and remediate this situation. Respectfully, Ann Pepper Director of Business Development apepper@lyonsroofing.com

Generally, the experience was horrible. There was a big problem with information getting passed the appropriate crews, lack of following instructions when the information was recieved, and a general lack of pride and quality in the installation of the new roofing materials. The end result looks like amateurs, not professionals, installed the roof. Who knows want is going to happen when the summer rains start dumping water on this roof. In detail, Lyons Roofing was prompt and punctual about meeting with me at the house to pro... read more

Business response:

No excuses. It is my understanding that Paul LaNue, the owner of Lyons Roofing has met with you since these events and has worked with you to remediate the project your satisfaction. I know Paul was equally upset and was ready to personally oversee the tear off and re-install of your roof. We appreciate your frustration and know this- it is shared frustration as this is contrary to our workmanship standards. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Respectfully, Ann Pepper Director of Business Development apepper@lyonsr... read more

3 days later... still waiting for return call from Catherine. Never gonna happen. Don't waste your time. Tosha answered phone.... Told me Catherine would call me right back.

Business response:

I am so sorry that we were unable to connect with you. I checked our records and I believe there must have been a technological glitch at play. Katherine is normally quite responsive and both she and I offer our apologies. If I can be of assistance, do not hesitate to reach out-I will personally handle your request. I called on the weekend, at night, during a heavy rain, at a time when my roof was leaking. The Lyons "emergency" guy got back to me quickly, strung me along for a couple of hours, and finally told me that the best he could do was to "get somebody out there Monday". I agreed. It was Tuesday before "Mike" came. He went up on the roof, took photos on his phone that he showed me, said he had all the information he needed to put together a bid and email it to me by the end of the week, and left. A couple of days later he called ... read more

Business response:

I know it is never a good excuse but when it rains- it does pour. We really do have a love hate relationship with the rain. On the heels of a multi-year drought a wet winter reveals a lot of issues valley wide. I think it might have been me trying to connect with you. Again, I apologize for Mikes inability to connect with you appropriately. Rest assured we have already addressed these logistics issues going forward. Best always, Ann Pepper Director of Business Development apepper@lyonsroofing.com
