Get directionsThe thing that impresses me the most is the activities and entertainment that is provided most days. The thought that goes into these days is beautiful and works on all sorts of levels. Most of all is the smiles it put on most of the resident's faces.
It's a beautiful and extremely welcoming care home. I originally never thought I would want my grandmother to go to a care home, and had visited others and they had always been very dark and depressing, and felt very clinical and not at all somewhere I would want to stay! This is totally different; there are beautiful communal spaces, with additional themed areas such as the tea room, cinema, pub, as well as areas in each corridor which have all been well thought out. The staff are incredibly friendly and great fun, and ther... read more
The staff are absolutely fantastic, nothing is too much trouble. They are extremely friendly and take the time to get to know the people they care for. I have been very impressed. Moving to a care home was a big change for my Gran and they have helped to support her with this transition.
Brilliant place. If I could live here myself I would...not old enough yet! What a place. Every whim and wish is cared for. There is a cinema, pub, spa room, play area for kids of all ages, that includes me. They have boggle! what can I say. A wonderful place with very attentive staff. Food I understand is also very good! One thing they need is a Piano! There are events that go on all the time. Just need to join in. Rooms are very good, and the whole place is decorated very tastefully. I would say even better than a first cla... read more
I am very impressed with the care and attention given from all the staff we have met today. Nothing has been too much trouble.
Putting my mother in a care home was always a last resort as other care homes I had visited seemed depressing places where the residents were just waiting to die. However, when I went to Oakview Lodge, expecting it to be like that, I found somewhere that was the opposite - bright, cheerful, happy, clean with wonderful facilities. I was completely blown away and felt it was definitely a place I would be happy for my mother to live in. Since she moved in nearly two weeks ago, I have not been disappointed. She can have a glass ... read more
Oakview Lodge is not at all what I expected from a care home. We had always said that there was no way my grandmother would go into a home, but this place is amazing. It's beautiful, everything is new, it's more like a luxury hotel! Lounges with smart modern furniture, dining tables with crisp white tablecloths and polished silverware, and so many facilities - hair and nail salon, cinema, pub, massage spa, family games room, tea room... it's wonderful! There are lots of thoughtful details, like old photos of the local area o... read more
Staff turnover is very high, always different faces, dementia sufferers need consistency. Personal care is very poor, hair not washed, finger nails always dirty, toenails cut very rarely. Room cleanliness is poor, always fluff and bits of food on the floor, table is always sticky, windowsills dusty. Communication is difficult with staff, there is a language barrier, unable to understand response. Emails not replied to in a timely manner. Never offered a drink as a visitor, always have to ask for a drink for my mum. My mum is... read more

I personally witnessed first-hand the lack of carers in this place. There was not a single day that the elderly residents were not waiting or shouting out for a carer to attend them. Some of the carers who attended my mother were so heavy-handed they left her in agony and in tears. They knew she was dying but that didn’t matter! In the end, one of the females in our family stayed in the room as they attended to our mother. Do not be fooled by the appearance of this place it looks like a hotel but behind the flaps of paint ar... read more
