The main reason for the loan was to consolidate some credit card debts. After asking, it was clearly understood that Penny Mac would make these payoffs themselves. Instead we received 4 or 5 individual checks to the creditors. this left it to us to contact these companies and accept the 3rd part checks. A few went okay, others did not. Improve communication with processes of collecting documents & closing. I was never informed after home appraisal that I had other loan/cash-out options. I never received correct closing disclosure in the mail before signing. I was never notified of cash to close before signing at closing. My online signed closing disclosure was different than what the notary brought to sogning. i had to ask what my cash to close was 1 day before my signing appointment. Actually, Shalom herself was great. She kept in contact, kept me informed, and tried to follow up on the delays. What was unacceptable was already being an established PennyMac loan customer, the process of refinancing took much longer than anticipated. At one point, I had to do a lot of calling around between PennyMac, the title company and the in between company for title and the loan (forgot the name) because no one could pinpoint what the delay on closing was. That was frustrating and seemed unnecessary.
